We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tiffany Jones a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Tiffany thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Looking back, what’s an important lesson you learned at a prior job?
I have worked in the medical field for over ten years now. I started out as a patient sitter and CNA/PCT. I worked my way through college and graduated with bachelor’s degree in nursing. I always knew that I wanted to help people. I am a naturally empathetic person and I have always been able to hold space for people in challenging situations.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a self taught tarot reader. I consumed books on tarot, the occult, and witchcraft like it was oxygen when I started my healing journey. I’ve been reading for myself, friends, and family for about seven years now. Sarah, owner and operator of Arcane Remedies, had just opened their shop in the West Village of Greenville and was looking for healers for their studio. I answered an Instagram story, shyly raising my hand that I was a self taught reader. To this day, I feel like I have given them the most awkward reading of my life due to my nervousness and interpretation. However, they saw something in me and asked me to be their resident reader at Arcane Remedies. I’ve been there resident reader ever since doing pop ups, walk-ins, appointments, and virtual sessions.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I think what has helped me with my reputation within the spiritual and healership community is my genuine ability to create a safe space. I think it’s part of my magic to create a safe space for people to be as authentically themselves for the short amount of time we spend together during a reading. My hope is that they are able to lighten their loads a bit after spending an hour or so with me.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I started reading professionally right before the COVID 19 pandemic and with gatherings of all kinds being canceled and moved to online platforms it was a challenging transition. I also worked in a COVID 19 ICU taking care of critically ill patients during that time as well. It was actually a really cathartic experience for me to be able to offer virtual readings because it took me out of my own head space for a while. I was worried that virtual readings wouldn’t be as “ impactful” as in person readings, however, some of my most magical moments were via zoom call.
