We were lucky to catch up with Tiffany Jones recently and have shared our conversation below.
Tiffany, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Has Covid resulted in any major changes to your business model?
Covid has drastically changed the landscape of digital marketing and what it looks like to build community online which has completely impacted the way I do business. Sales first is what most businesses focus on and while profitability matters, I believe it’s also important to recognize how this model impacts the very people that support it.
We’re ready to work better, and smarter, in ways that allow us to prioritize our mental health and wellness. It’s a people first model that requires authenticity and vulnerability, and I believe the rise of apps like TikTok are the perfect example of the power in community, and how much we’re craving connection after what we experienced during covid.
Over time I’ve transitioned my business model to reflect a more authentic and human-centric approach to marketing and sales. It’s been excellent for my mental health as an entrepreneur and I’ve been able to better serve my community by focusing on connection first. With remote work becoming increasingly popular, more and more businesses are acknowledging the wellness needs of their teams and I believe we’ll continue seeing the impact of this in how we show up online and at work.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I started my business in 2017 after leaving my corporate career as a Technical Designer for Spanx working in product development. What started as a blogging hobby in 2014 just for fun quickly turned into a photography, web and brand design business. I’d fallen in love with the creative process and I felt most excited when using my gifts to help others. I always envisioned working in a way that allowed me more time, flexibility and freedom to live life in my terms any day of the week. I studied YouTube and scoured Google everyday for years learning, growing and investing in my understanding of the digital marketing world. I learned from others online and explored different business models in search of the perfect fit for me.
Over time I learned to understand the power of energy and how to use it to optimize your life and business. I leaned into astrology, Kolbe, MBTI and Human Design to understand my own unique human energy type and the best way to work for me. I gained insight and experience on how our thoughts create our reality and the power of meditation and mindfulness as a practice, and I felt at home on this path. Although not without challenges, it came naturally to me and then I understood what alignment looked like for me.
On my podcast, Alignment Recess, I share stories about human emotion, the intersection of personal power and leadership development. Each week I share insights and techniques for cultivating greater alignment in our lives, finding inner peace through meditation, harnessing the power of affirmations, and developing the personal power and leadership skills needed to create the life and business we want.
This is a unique approach to business because it’s emotion-centric, focusing more on human behavior and wellness, quite the opposite of what we typically see in digital marketing and business in general.
I support my clients by helping them identity and understand their own unique energy type and what their specific needs are to work in optimal ways that allow them the space to operate in their zone of genius and spend less time in the business. There’s power in self mastery and learning to work in ways that energize instead of drain you is an incredible tool in creating the life and business of your dreams.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
It’s absolutely been my human-first and holistic approach to business. I’ve always believed in a more authentic approach to marketing, contrast to the “bro” marketing that reigned for some time. This form of marketing centered on aspirational objectives rooted in material success and zero to millions get rich quick selling. It was a “by any means necessary” mindset that pushed hustle culture and enabled unhealthy habits of over-working at the cost of our mental health and wellness.
I record the Alignment Recess podcast in the bath tub so it’s safe to say I have an unconventional approach to business. I’ve maintained a human-first and transparent position with my audience and clients that creates a safe space online. I keep people first and ensure I take a caring approach to social media and any communications. My super power has been my emotional eq and belief in ethical marketing that allows both the consumer and the business to win without leveraging trauma selling or fear based marketing. This has allowed me to build a community that trusts me and feels safe engaging with me online.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
To be an entrepreneur is to be resilient. My journey has been filled with major wins but also the lowest of lows. It’s required me to step outside of my comfort zone in ways I never imagined and learn skills that empower me to take risks that quantum leap my personal development and accelerate my growth.
Each year, as I’ve evolved as a leader, I’ve made the decision to transition my business with me. Operating from an emotional center requires my environment to evolve with me as I grow. I believe in building a sustainable business that doesn’t feel like pressure, but instead, brings more ease and joy into my life. This is what working and living in alignment allows you to do, and what I work with clients to uncover during our Alignment and Core Identity Sessions.
It’s my resilience to continue on despite any and all obstacles on my path, through recessions and global pandemics, no matter what I never quit. I learn, I evolve and I take what’s meant to come with me to the next level and leave the rest. To be resilient is to live in flow and I believe that’s what I do, even when it feels tough.
