We recently connected with Tiffany Jones and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiffany, thanks for joining us today. Folks often look at a successful business and imagine it was an overnight success, but from what we’ve seen this is often far from the truth. We’d love to hear your scaling up story – walk us through how you grew over time – what were some of the big things you had to do to grow and what was that scaling up journey like?
Welp after about a year of steady but slow growth we realized there were multiple opportunities that we missed out on and we restructured behind the scenes. Always say yes…. And figure it out along the way!!! It’s chaotic but you never know what you can handle until you do challenge yourself!!! Upgraded recipes, new packaging.….
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Est 2020Hi!!! We are COOL BEANS COFFEE STOP! I’m Tiffany! Along side my husband Jeremyah, we are a nano coffee shop in Honolulu,HI! specializing in cold brew coffee! We use beans from the north shore off oahu Specially roasted to a medium plus. We had to trade alot of coffee to find the i think you’d like it! Not too acidic, Still oily and rich and trails a perfect cold brew flavor. perfect spot. We also make lemonades and plantation style iced teas! Coffee isn’t for everyone. Really, i just make stuff that i like and hope the community likes it too! So far so good!!! We pull flavor profiles from hawaii , like mac nut coffee syrup. Lihing mui mango lemonade, and lilikoi or pineapple plantation Iced teas…. We also make our own syrups And creamers! What I’m most proud of is US!!!! Sticking to it and not giving up even when life throws a bunch of shit at you. We had to take a few months off in 2022 & 24 to deal with my brain cancer. I was first diagnosed in 2017 and have had 3brain surgeries! I know!!! It’s crazy talk! But we are still here slinging craft cold brews and rice krispie treats to Honolulu! We wouldn’t be here without the support of our customers and community . So made it the cool beans mission to give back as much a as we can. The aloha tip jar rotates every month to a different non profit or family in need…. We also give a percentage of our sales to whatever venue we are working with at that event: Mission houses of Hawai’i, kumu kahua theater, Capitol modern Hawaii state art museum.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I mentioned it in the intro, but hopefully my story will inspire someone else. I have a grade 4 Anaplastic astrocytoma. It stinks and is a hard pill to swallow for me and my family, but i was born in the 80s raised in the 90s…. W grew up with songs and slogans to live your life! Just do it…. No regrets…. So that’s what I’m trying to do!!! Coffee and snacks make the world go round!
Okay – so how did you figure out the manufacturing part? Did you have prior experience?
We do make everything you see at the various markets and pop ups we are at Cold brew coffee, , lemonades, iced teas, syrups, brownies, crispy treats, musubi, sliders, burritos….. on site at our commercial kitchen where we also operate our mon-sat 8a-noon thirty shop.
