Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tiffany Jeans. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Tiffany, thanks for joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
When I made the decision to leave my 15-year marriage, it was a risk I only realized the magnitude of with hindsight. I married at the age of sixteen and up to this point my qualifications extended only to a GED, and my income was limited to part-time work as a massage therapist. My family couldn’t fathom why I would take such a risk, given my limited financial footing and the responsibilities I had as a mother of three.
The emotional toll of the marriage was heavy. My husband’s consistent betrayals and infidelity weren’t just devastating; they eroded the heart of our family, impacting even our children. The act of leaving him was not just a breakup; it was an act of reclaiming my dignity, my mental health, and my future.
The journey that followed was challenging to say the least. I was a young, single mom, trying to balance work, going back to school, all while doing my best to figure out who I was now. With every obstacle, however, came greater clarity. I committed myself to healing—both spiritually and emotionally. My academic path towards becoming a psychiatric technician helped me become critically aware of how important mental health is, strengthening my resolve to cultivate a life that prioritized well-being on all fronts.
Today, I’m not just living; I’m thriving. I’ve always dreamed of living by the ocean, and now I do. It is a constant, powerful symbol of life’s ebb and flow. I have found a partner who sees me, respects me, and supports my dreams, both personal and professional.
And speaking of dreams, I didn’t merely survive the adversities; I fulfilled a childhood dream so extraordinary that it serves as a beacon of what’s possible. I traveled to Bali and swam with giant Manta rays, all while wearing a mermaid tail. From risking it all with almost nothing, to realizing a fantasy most people only daydream about, my journey stands as a testament to the transformative power of resilience and daring to dream big.
That’s why I do what I do. It’s now my dream to extend that same possibility to others—to guide them through their own journeys of self-discovery, healing, and unimaginable fulfillment. I want to show people that no matter where you start or what hardships you face, you too have the inherent power to transform your life in ways you’ve never dared to imagine.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hello, I’m Tiffany Jeans, a Holistic Wellness & Spiritual Growth Coach with a specialization in supporting women of color, particularly Black women, as they navigate the unique challenges tied to their identity. My journey into coaching was unexpected yet beautifully organic. An eye-opening conversation with an acquaintance revealed a career possibility in something I’d been doing naturally all my life—helping people find clarity and peace within themselves. Though she intended to coach me, I found myself intuitively coaching her instead. It was a lightbulb moment—I could make a career out of my innate abilities. That evening, I dove into the world of life coaching and realized that not only did this profession resonate deeply with me, I had found the vehicle for my purpose.
As a Black woman navigating the spiritual and emotional landscape of America, I found a glaring gap in support tailored to my unique challenges. This became especially poignant when I tried finding solace in a predominantly White spiritual community. There, I was told that sometimes, “one has to walk the spiritual path alone.” This was a statement I could not accept. Why was it I had to walk the path alone as I watched others have their needs catered to and met? It was a time when my 15-year marriage had ended, and I found myself navigating life as a single mother. I was lonely, exhausted, and yearning for a community that understood me.
I came to the conclusion that if I was to walk the path alone I would forge my own path. I found my unique path in providing a haven for women of color who often feel sidelined in mainstream wellness spaces. When I spoke to other women of color, my intuition was affirmed. I found a collective sigh of agreement—women feeling perpetually unworthy, exhausted from constant caregiving, and disenchanted with mainstream religious offerings. When I asked them about their sense of fun or creativity, the silence was deafening. The gap I’d sensed wasn’t just my experience; it was a collective void.
The tools and methods I use resonate deeply with the women who attend my group sessions. Whether it’s meditation or some form of mindfulness, each woman is striving to be her most authentic self, yearning for growth and healthy living. I’ve watched women transform right before my eyes, growing into happier souls, forming lasting friendships, and creating better lives for themselves and those around them.
I offer a variety of coaching packages designed to meet the unique needs of each client. My six-week and nine-week one-on-one coaching programs include the ELI assessment and are geared toward in-depth, transformative coaching. I also offer a specialized four-session package that focuses on targeted issues or goals you want to address. For those looking for group learning experiences, my “Fearless Compassion” course offers dance and movement techniques specifically designed to soothe and self-regulate the nervous system.
The most rewarding part of this journey is seeing my clients evolve into happier, more fulfilled women. I cherish the authentic connections I make, some of which transcend the coaching relationship into real friendships. My work allows me to employ a multi-faceted approach, using my diverse training to help my clients transform their lives, and in turn, impact those around them positively.
By joining forces with me, you’re not just signing up for a coaching program; you’re joining a compassionate community that understands your unique challenges and celebrates your unique strengths.
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
In addition to training and knowledge, it is crucial to have empathy in coaching —particularly, the capacity to deeply understand and connect with the unique experiences and challenges of my clients. As a Black woman who has navigated the complexities of spirituality, wellness, and personal growth in environments that often didn’t cater to my needs, I can genuinely relate to my clients. This empathetic connection forms the base of trust, allowing my clients to feel safe, seen, and empowered.
Another essential quality is authenticity. Coaching isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach. My lived experiences and background enable me to offer a service that is tailored specifically for women of color, filling a gap in the wellness industry. Clients are smart; they can tell when you’re genuine and when you’re just following a script. Being my authentic self not only sets me apart but also attracts clients who are looking for what I uniquely offer.
Lastly, resilience and a growth mindset are a must. The journey through personal growth, spirituality, and wellness is challenging at best, both for the coach and the client. The ability to bounce back, learn from each experience, and adapt my approaches has been invaluable. Holistic wellness is ever-evolving and growing, and staying committed to my own learning and development ensures that I can best serve my clients.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
There was a period in my life where I found myself feeling lost and stuck. My marriage had ended, and I was a single mother working non-stop to balance the many aspects of my life, including my spiritual growth. During this challenging time, I sought solace and support within a spiritual community that, I would come to realize, wasn’t fully inclusive of my unique experiences as a Black woman, single mother, or my age at the time.
At one point, when discussing the lack of representation and programs tailored for people like me, a long-standing member told me, “Sometimes on the spiritual path, you have to go it alone.” Though disheartening, I took that advice not as a deterrent, but as a catalyst for change. Instead of retreating or abandoning my spiritual journey, I committed to creating the space I wished existed—a space where women of color could heal, grow, and explore spirituality on their terms.
The loneliness, the exhaustion, the fear—they became the fuel for my resilience. I transformed my personal struggles into a dedicated coaching practice that now offers what was once missing for me. I understood that if I felt this way, many others would too. That realization didn’t merely help me bounce back; it propelled me forward to create something truly meaningful for others facing similar challenges.
