We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tiffany Jackson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tiffany below.
Tiffany, appreciate you joining us today. How do you think about spending on things like coffee when times are tough?
Thinking back on my journey, I will never forget the 2 times in my life, my career and finances were the most affected. The unexpected pandemic of Covid-19 definitely defined every decision I made, not just financially. I had to think about where I was going, who I was going to be around and what essentials were most important. In all honesty, it prepared me for an even more challenge when the strike hit in Los Angeles.
The pandemic definitely was a struggle but at least the government made small payments to Americans, late/no payments for housing and bills were temporarily forgiven or excused as we were just forced to stay quarantined until it was safe to go back outside. Regarding the writers/actors strike, we did not have those accommodations. For me, being a full time actress to being forced to find work elsewhere was my biggest adversity. I have been in the industry for a decade now and having to find another way to live (literally) made me have to prioritize my expenses. I only funded basic necessities and essentials until the strike was FINALLY over.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Well, I started off as an All-American high school athlete. I was heavily into sports for most of my life. I was a 4-year varsity basketball and track star, then went on to play Division 1 basketball. I accepted a basketball scholarship in Tennessee at THE Tennessee State University (HBCU). After a short overseas career, I decided I wanted to pursue another passion of mine: modeling. So, I packed up all of my things and moved to NYC, where I struggled and strived for 7 years. With the modeling industry evolving, I decided to take my talents to Los Angeles and pursue acting. 1 pandemic and a 1 strike later, and I’m still here 🙂
I think I am most proud of my tenacity. I’ve always been a go-getter in everything that I do. From sports to fashion to production. I have very strong perseverance and determination to be great and to change the trajectory of my families legacy. No one in my family has done anything close to what I am doing. So I’m very motivated to make my family, friends and anyone who has ever supported me proud.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Social media presence is extremely important. Before, I really didn’t spend much time entertaining it. But I learned quickly that if you present yourself, your lifestyle, career and success confidently and frequently, people will find interest and follow. Especially if you are a public figure.
What I learned is that the more consistent you are with your posts, the more followers you will get and the longer they will support. People tend to get bored easily. So I made it a habit to always document my experiences. Weather it’s me working on a commercial, on vacation, at a sports event or even just celebrating with friends. I try to capture the moments and display it for my followers to see.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I have been modeling and acting for over 11 years. I pride myself on networking. I’ve gotten to the point where I have built great relationships with the productions that I’ve worked with. I think this has established a rapport for myself as a “talent”, where I am capable to book many jobs without having to audition.
Many producers, directors, and other people in productions have blessed me with countless opportunities to work with them. So I would definitely credit networking and creating a good relationships with people to the advancement of my reputation and success.
