We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tiffany Hines a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Tiffany thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
Event planning has always been a passion of mine and I wanted the name to be focused around that. I wrote down a bunch of words I felt best described a good event.
The four words that stuck out to me most were precise, impressive, creative and lasting which I used to form an acronym, PICL-pronounced as pickle.
From there, the full name became PICL Events LLC and has recently rebranded as PICL Elements LLC to be more inclusive of the additional services, itinerary and gifts. I often say PICL for short.
Elements is fitting because all of the services allow me to be in my element both with skill and creativity.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
As the owner of PICL Elements LLC, I thrive and am most confident in event mode, being organized and showing creativity.
Event planning for me started back in high school where I was the planner for group dinners before some of the school dances. It’s something about bringing people together and expanding more from that, details and bringing a vision to light, that’s so exciting to me. I love decor too!
For event planning needs, I assist beginning to end including venue selection, decor and any post event items.
I offer itinerary services for those who want to experience Atlanta. If you’re not quite sure what to do or how to plan it out, my ideas and organization are available to help with that.
The gift baskets I make each have a different look, are personalized per the recipient’s likes or theme and celebrate different occasions.
For all the services, my goal is to demonstrate each word of the PICL acronym.
I hope PICL will be successful. In the meantime, I’m proud to make my dream a reality and be a black and female business owner. I also look forward to any growth and meeting other entrepreneurs and creatives along the way.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
July 2020, right around my birthday, was supposed to be the launch for PICL’s first signature event.
In preparation, I worked so hard on all the planning, details and social media posts. Unfortunately I did not open ticket sales, as covid had already started to impact the U.S. I made the devastating decision to postpone the event and from there the pandemic got worse.
Postponing felt like I was robbed of the chance to show my hard work, but I later realized it was the best decision at the time given the circumstances.
I had my different emotions about it, kept it shelved as we all waited for the world to get better and since then with new focus, PICL has rebranded. I have also envisioned more things I want to do now, including the signature event, which I don’t think would have happened without the pause.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
I am still figuring this out. Most of the work I’ve done so far has been for people I know, but I always welcome new clients I have not met before. Different sources and platforms are what I want to explore more.
I don’t have the biggest social media following, but I don’t let that be the reason to not be positive about PICL and neither should others with their own endeavors.
Perhaps this interview will give PICL a little more exposure. Still, it’s great to share my story and I am excited for what’s to come.
