Hi Tiffany, thanks for joining us today. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?

I began my journey by refocusing on my career aspirations. With Career Direction and Clarity Coach Alison Cardy’s guidance, we delved deeply into my career history, education, hobbies, and other interests. We identified recurring themes in my life experience where I excelled.

Once I saw these areas clearly, we pivoted to discussing my career goals. These discussions ultimately led to the realization that I wanted to establish my own business. Alison provided exercises to map out this plan, leading me to draft the first version of my business plan.

I sought out individuals who were already in the field and discovered Kim Flynn of Retreatworks. Her expertise was instrumental in helping me start my own retreat planning business. I also collaborated with SCORE Business Services in Alexandria, VA, who assigned me a business coach. This coach was pivotal in refining and streamlining my business plan.

Additionally, I shared my vision with Avis Miller of Distinctively Yours, LLC Counseling & Consulting. Avis provided essential details on securing funding for my business.

I noticed that once I had clarity on my idea, the right people began to appear, offering invaluable lessons and advice. By May, my concept was crystal clear; by July, I was filing for my LLC. By September, I had a solid plan for the retreat series I would offer.

This journey from idea to execution was a transformative experience, marked by insightful guidance and support from various mentors and experts. It taught me that once you have a clear vision, the universe conspires to make it happen, bringing the right people and opportunities into your life.

Background and Journey: I spent a decade serving in the United States Navy, specifically in the Surface Warfare community, which is renowned for operating and commanding naval vessels. This incredible opportunity allowed me to travel the world, exploring diverse countries, cultures, and new ideas. My passion for health and wellness has been a constant throughout my life. I’m a certified Integrative Nutrition Coach, a yoga instructor, and I hold a Master’s degree in Global Public Health. My health journey included attending numerous health and wellness retreats, each an amazing experience that significantly influenced my path.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

I had to learn the value of acknowledging my feelings and allowing myself to experience them fully, rather than pushing them aside. I used to cope with stress by immersing myself in work, constantly staying busy. However, building something from the ground up, where I am responsible for shaping the processes and direction of the business, requires a different approach. Unlike working within an established company with set agendas, I couldn’t simply push forward without addressing my own needs.

Learning to take the time to reset and reflect has been a challenging but essential lesson on this journey. To move forward effectively, I must understand my personal needs and priorities. Once I take the necessary time to gain this understanding, I find the clarity required to progress to the next steps in developing my business.

This journey has taught me the importance of self-awareness and self-care. By embracing these practices, I am better equipped to lead my business with intention and purpose.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?

Being a member of a mastermind group has been an incredibly beneficial experience for me. It has provided me with invaluable support during the challenging times of developing a new business. The group has not only helped me navigate the next steps in my journey but has also offered a network of high-level individuals who listen to my struggles and provide insightful support and wisdom. Their guidance has been instrumental in helping me achieve my goals.

This collective wisdom and the shared experiences within the group have been essential in overcoming obstacles and staying focused on my objectives. The collaborative environment fosters a sense of accountability and inspiration, propelling me forward on my entrepreneurial path.
