We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tiffany Hanchett a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Tiffany, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
The biggest risk I’ve ever taken, both personally and professionally, was choosing to step into the unknown simply because God called me to. My business, Faith Over Fear Coaching, was born from that exact decision. The name isn’t just branding; it’s the story behind everything I do.
Last year, I was living in Boston, where I had spent nearly a decade building a stable career in Human Resources. I worked in state government, in a role that provided structure, consistency, and stability. From the outside, it looked secure. But on the inside, I felt something I can only describe as God shifting the direction of my life.
In the 2 years leading up to that moment, I had walked through a difficult season. With God’s grace, I found healing, strength, and a renewed sense of identity. Coming out of that, my relationship with God deepened, and I began asking Him, not just myself, “Where are you leading me? What’s Your desire for my life?”
The answer wasn’t one I would have chosen logically. I kept sensing the same instruction:
Quit your job. Move to London. Trust Me.
There was no backup plan, no job offer waiting, no guarantee of anything except God’s promise that He would be with me.
To almost everyone around me, the idea sounded irrational. I heard things like:
“Are you serious?”
“You’ve quit a job you love?”
“No one gets hired overseas, especially in HR.”
“That’s impossible.”
But I’ve learned that God doesn’t operate within the limits of human logic. He operates through faith.
So, I resigned from my cushy life. I packed my life into two suitcases (yes, two!), and I boarded a plane to a country I had never lived in. I had no job, was staring into the abyss, and yet I felt complete peace, because I knew I wasn’t doing it alone.
Those first months in London became a necessary pause: a time to listen, to reflect, to heal, and to dream. I didn’t see it then, but He was giving me space to build the foundation for something bigger than I could have ever imagined.
It was during that season that the concept of Faith Over Fear Coaching took root. What started as private journaling turned into clarity, and clarity turned into my calling.
Within my first three months in London, I secured the very first job I applied to (along with visa sponsorship!), despite the odds being stacked against me. And alongside that work, my coaching business grew from my passion for strategic HR, tactical communication, and helping people build confidence, find purpose, and advocate for the life they’re designed for.
Today, I operate from this core belief: Faith without action is meaningless, and action without faith is tiresome. We need both.
My clients don’t have to share my exact beliefs, but we must agree on one truth: You will not get where you want to go if you don’t first believe in yourself.
So yes, the biggest risk I’ve taken was moving overseas with no plan except obedience. But looking back, it wasn’t really a risk at all; it was alignment. It was trust. It was God writing a story better than anything I could have.
I wouldn’t be living in London having the purpose-filled job of Faith Over Fear Coaching if it weren’t for walking by faith, not sight. Whether someone is applying to a new job, asking for a promotion, or negotiating benefits, they won’t get very far without both faith and action.
This is where I come in. Faith Over Fear is the foundation of everything my business stands for.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Tiffany, and I am the founder of Faith Over Fear Coaching. I am a Kansas-born, Boston-shaped, London-based woman, and each step of that journey has shaped not only my life but also the way I coach, communicate, and help others navigate their own careers with confidence and clarity.
Faith Over Fear Coaching is a purpose-driven coaching practice that helps individuals confidently advocate for themselves, articulate their value, and pursue growth opportunities with a clear direction, boldness, and unwavering faith. I am passionate about helping people grow in faith and thrive in their careers.
My journey into this work was not linear; it was a calling. Before launching Faith Over Fear Coaching, I spent a decade working in Admissions, Recruitment, and Human Resources across Boston University, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and now the University of Cambridge in the UK. I built a stable career in Boston, but I felt God shifting my direction.
That shift eventually led me to take the boldest step of my life: I quit my job at the Commonwealth, packed two suitcases, and moved to London with no offer waiting, only obedience and faith. I secured the first and only role I applied to, including a Skilled Worker Visa. That experience strengthened my belief that purpose, preparation, and faith can work together in powerful ways.
Faith Over Fear Coaching started as a side passion project and was born through a willingness to step into the unknown and trust even when I could not see the next step. Today, I coach clients around the world who are ready to step into confidence, career growth, professional clarity, and self-advocacy.
The work I do combines insider HR strategy, communication expertise, confidence and identity development, and, for those who want it, faith-based alignment. My services include resume/CV and cover letter transformation, LinkedIn optimization, interview preparation, salary negotiation support, job search strategy, visa navigation, strategic HR communications, and leadership readiness. Whether someone is early in their career, mid-career and feeling stuck, or striving for leadership, I meet them where they are and support them in getting where they want to go.
At its core, the real problem I solve is helping people learn to advocate for themselves. Most clients do not come to me because they lack skill. They come because they lack direction, confidence, or a compelling narrative. Many of us do not have a perfectly linear career path, myself included, and for years I believed that made me less competitive. In reality, what held me back was not my experience, but my belief about it. Now I help others avoid that same limitation.
Before polishing documents or rehearsing interview answers, we start with identity, narrative, and value. Who are you personally and professionally? How does your experience connect? What makes you an asset? How confident are you in your skillset? How do we communicate that clearly, confidently, and strategically? Once someone believes in the power of their story, everything else flows from there and opportunities begin to open.
My approach blends insider HR strategy, confidence-building, strategic communication, and positioning expertise. My background in behavioral science and a master’s in PR and marketing also shape how I help clients understand their story and effectively convey this to hiring managers. This work is not just about editing documents or preparing for interviews. It is about transforming how someone sees themselves and how they show up professionally.
My clients learn how to walk into any room, virtual or otherwise, with grounded confidence. They learn how to advocate for themselves, present as leaders, and make career decisions rooted in purpose rather than fear. I doubled my salary in just two years through a combination of strategic negotiation, clear communication, and confidence in my value. Many of my clients have also achieved meaningful career advancement, such as promotions, higher salaries, visa-sponsored roles, and increased confidence in navigating their professional journeys.
What I am most proud of is that Faith Over Fear Coaching exists because I chose obedience over comfort, and now it helps others take courageous, aligned steps in their careers. While I never promise specific outcomes, I do promise this: if you learn to advocate for yourself with confidence, vision, and the right strategy, doors will open.
If there is one thing I want people to know, it is that you do not need to have everything figured out to begin. You simply need faith in what is possible, a willingness to grow, and the perseverance to take the next step. Faith Over Fear Coaching exists to support that journey with strategy, accountability, encouragement, and unwavering belief in what is possible for you.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients for me has been word-of-mouth referrals. Almost every client I’ve worked with has either been referred by someone I’ve already helped or was connected through a conversation where my career confidence work naturally came up. Once people learn I’m a career coach, they tend to remember me the moment someone in their world needs support with their documents, a promotion, interview preparation, etc. Everyone knows someone navigating a career transition, and referrals have become a natural extension of the work I do.
While I do have an Instagram account (@FaithOverFearCoach), I treat it more as a space of expression than a formal marketing strategy. I share when I feel led. Sometimes it’s faith-based content, sometimes HR insights or tips, and sometimes personal reflections. It changes depending on the season I’m in, and because of that, it feels authentic rather than forced. I don’t follow a strict content plan, yet people still find me there because the message resonates. It’s less about followers and more about authenticity.
One of my favorite examples of an organic lead was at a local coffee shop. While chatting with the cafe owner, I shared I had an imminent coaching call, and as I was walking away, someone who overheard tapped me on the shoulder and said, “Did I hear you say you do career confidence coaching? I need help with my CV.” Moments like that remind me that sometimes the most effective marketing strategy is simply being willing to talk about what you do.
So while I appreciate social platforms and visibility, the greatest impact has come from genuine connection, meaningful conversations, and sharing my experience with others. My business has grown because clients felt supported, seen, and inspired – and they shared that with someone who needed the same.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
For me, staying connected with clients and fostering loyalty is rooted in genuine relationships and thoughtful follow-up. Over time, I have noticed that the most impactful coaches, regardless of their industry, share one consistent trait: they stay present. They do not disappear after a session or after a client says, “not right now.” They continue to show up with care, consistency, and intention.
I take a very personal approach to maintaining relationships. I do not use automated messages or mass outreach (except for booking confirmations/reminders), because people can feel when a message is generic. Instead, I take the extra time to send individualized follow-ups, check-ins, and encouragement when it feels meaningful or relevant. Sometimes it is as simple as, “Thinking of you today. Hope things are going well.” Other times, it is sharing a resource, an article, a role that aligns with their goals, or even a prayer if that is something we have connected on. Small touchpoints truly matter.
I also recognize that “no” rarely means “never.” Often, it simply means “not right now.” People come back when the timing aligns, especially if they have already experienced trust, support, or guidance in our previous interactions. Because of that, I focus on connection rather than pressure. I follow up, but not in a way that feels transactional or urgent.
At the end of the day, loyalty grows when people feel remembered, valued, respected, and seen, not just when they are actively paying for services. This business is a side calling for me at this time, not something I run purely for income, and I believe clients can feel that. My goal is to build long-term relationships, not quick transactions. The follow-through, the personal connection, and the authentic care are ultimately what keep clients connected long after our formal work together ends.
