We recently connected with Tiffany Hamilton and have shared our conversation below.
Tiffany, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with talking about how you serve the underserved, because in our view this is one of the most important things the small business community does for society – by serving those who the giant corporations ignore, small business helps create a more inclusive and just world for all of us.
Yes my business caters to the under served. My business was formed and thrived mid pandemic, a time when it was hard for everyone. Some people had to decide to buy groceries or pharmaceuticals, I offered a solution of super foods that are medicinal and affordable. I just wanted to help anyway I could during the pandemic and now. I offered delivery for those who could not get to the restaurant. I am a black female that is 50% deaf, I know what it feels like to be in a position of feeling under served, so I am passionate about being the difference I want to see. Fresh to Deaf serves the community working with summer camps, being a food pantry, doing internships, and so much more.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am 50% deaf in both ears and I’ve struggled in corporate positions dealing with people who have no patience for my hearing loss. Having these experiences prompted me to create my own business bringing awareness to the deaf/HOH community. I first became a master herbalist, then bc a psychological food coach, and now a holistic practitioner. I created a plant based brand that evolved into 2 brick and mortar stores in Ohio and now currently taking on Miami Beach. I am the only black female deaf holistic practitioner with this type of brand/platform, this sets me apart and brings awareness to the deaf/HOH community. This makes me proud in my own right. Allowing young melinated people to see someone who looks like them in this position. I offer psychological and holistic services as well as full service catering. I have a great new business partner/vendor here in Miami. Toast and Kiss and Fresh to Deaf had teamed up to deliver to the community luxury picnics, catering, and event planning.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
Life is a wonderful thing. Me and Yoli met online we just took to each other sharing a lot of the same creative ideas. We chatted for months before actually meeting and dining at the En Blanc Miami. It felt like we knew each other for years almost like sisters. We are working together to bring the community something amazing.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
Fresh to Deaf is fully funded by me, no loans, just my blood, sweat, and tears. This makes me so proud, I just did what I had to do from day to day. When your brand is genuine God will always make a way.
