We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tiffany Goss. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tiffany below.
Hi Tiffany, thanks for joining us today. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
Have you ever experienced two entirely different emotions, both helplessness and excitement at the same time? I have, and it was in that moment that I realized it would change the entire trajectory of my career. Stay with me here. Recently, I was in the thick of a CME crisis, CME being Continuing Medical Education that I head for the company in which I’m employed. I remember feeling so overwhelmed, more so than I’d experienced in the two years after taking on this role. The uncertainty of not knowing how I was going to rectify the situation, left me feeling, you guessed it, helpless until I decided to take control. I was done waiting around, sitting idly by and within 24 hours, it was handled and couldn’t have worked out more beautifully. The same day, I received much long-awaited news that instantly brought on those feelings of excitement and overshadowed the helplessness I had felt. I knew the opportunity that was before me was going to take my career to the next level, so to say I was hysterical and flooded with emotion was an understatement. It was a pivotal moment and a testament to my growth.
Coming back full circle, that defining moment was realizing cracking under pressure was not an option for me, and instead of letting my anxiety take over, I turned it into an important learning lesson. The situation really tested me, on every level, but ultimately, it shined a spotlight on my will to push forward and further cemented that I was more than ready to take on this new opportunity. I was no longer going to allow myself to stand in my own way.

Tiffany, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I always love it when I get asked what I do for a living because it’s so unique and has a backstory that I hope is as inspiring to others as it is to me. It was an opportunity that fell into my lap, coming up six years ago this July when my brother-in-law, Christopher C. Surek, D.O., FACS, a well-renowned Plastic Surgeon based here in Overland Park, Kansas who has made quite a name for himself within the Plastic Surgery circuit and Medical Aesthetics Industry. On top of it all, he also has a real gift for teaching so when he told me that he had a vision for creating a hands-on anatomy cadaver course, I thought there was no better person to do it than him, and when he asked me if I wanted in, I didn’t hesitate. The Academy for Injection Anatomy was designed to provide injectors with a unique hands-on experience in the cadaver lab, where they perform 10 injections and 10 dissections using an orange-and-green dyed filler product on a specimen. A specimen being those who have passed on and donated their bodies to science, (you can read more about this in my first interview with VoyageKC). Once they dissect down into the face following their injections, it allows them to visualize within the vessels to see if they injected in the correct plane. The human face is full of nerves, and it only takes hitting one to cause a complication or worse, irreversible damage. This was the sole motivation behind developing this course. Fast forward to present day and we have trained over 3,208 injectors and performed 589 dissections. We now have an Instagram following of 34.4k followers so it’s wild to look back and see how far we’ve grown our brand all by word of mouth. We’ve never lost momentum, we continue to get better the more we do it and it is truly incredible to see the difference we have made within this industry.
If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
Yes, absolutely! I have met so many incredible people within the industry and made long standing connections that I am so grateful for. My work is fueled through passion with a strong desire in making a difference, it gives me so much fulfillment, and a sense of purpose that lets me know I am right where I am supposed to be.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
We have a genuine interest in helping medical professionals who take our course be the best and safest providers that they can be for their patients. Taking our course is an investment and we want them to feel it’s one worth making. At the start of every course, we give them a greeting letter that Dr. Surek himself signs which includes the areas they listed on their registration form where they feel weak in and what they’d like to improve upon along with a course diploma. We want them to feel valuable. We might have 3,208 alumni but we know each and every one of them by name, because we believe the provider as an individual is what matters most.
