We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tiffany Gibson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Tiffany , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
Flea markets and craft fairs have been part of my life since I was a kid. I started making and selling beaded bracelets with my dad at a local craft fair when I was seven years old. Over the years I have sold vintage clothing, vintage home goods and my own sustainable label @harlow_jade Last year I decided to leave my corporate job to help care for one of my fave people in the world, my dad who was battling cancer. He passed away in June 2022, which still doesn’t seem real.
After brainstorming what my next move would be I decided to create what I wish existed…
A place to bring the community together, score amazing vintage, artisan goods, discover new brands, grab good food and listen to good music.
A place to take fun classes that focus on wellness and creativity.
A place to learn and grow together.
A place to cheer each other on as we move through grief, loneliness or whatever you are facing.
I hope to have a permanent space for classes and for our community to gather. I hope to offer classes on art, cooking, pottery, meditation and more.
Tiffany , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Tiffany. I am a Los Angeles (South Bay) native and currently live in Redondo Beach with my husband Ian and two kids. My background is in fashion industry. I have worked in the fashion industry for 13 years. I worked in the design department doing everything from product development, design, marketing and creative direction.
After several years in the industry I became pregnant with my daughter Harlow. I couldn’t wrap my head around leaving my beautiful newborn for twelve hours a day. I decided to take a leap of faith and leave my corporate job at RVCA. I needed a way to help provide for my family so I launched Harlow Jade clothing, a sustainable clothing line made in Los Angeles. I started the brand with $400. I had very little money to invest but with a lot of hard work and my background in fashion I was able to grow my business pretty quickly. I ran Harlow Jade for seven years and rode the ups and downs of being an entrepreneur.
I learned so much from my first business baby. Our bell bottoms and bell bottom overalls quickly became a staple in lots of girls closets. However once the $5 knock offs using our photos took off on Amazon I had a really hard time competing. I am now pivoting Harlow Jade into more of a lifestyle blog which is coming soon.
I went back to the corporate fashion world for more stability but a year into my job my dad became very sick with cancer. I decided to leave my corporate job to help care for him.. He passed away in June 2022, which still doesn’t seem real. Once again I needed to figure out a way to help support my family.
After brainstorming what my next move would be I decided to create what I wish existed…

Come Together was a way of blending everything I loved.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Sometimes you are forced to follow your heart when your back is up against the wall. I had been thinking of launching a place where people could COME TOGETHER to grow and learn. A place to bring the community together, score amazing vintage, artisan goods, discover new brands, grab good food and listen to good music. After my dad passed away I spent months looking for a new job in the fashion industry, to no avail. I thought to myself maybe I should try a pop up market and see how it goes? I am still growing Come Together into the beautiful place I envision but I am so happy I took the leap. I have met so many amazing small business owners and community members. After COVID people were looking for more ways to be in community. So many people were feeling lonely and isolated. We need community, we need support, we need to know we matter. I hope to create a place where people feel welcomed.
