We were lucky to catch up with Tiffany Ferrell recently and have shared our conversation below.
Tiffany, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
It definitely wasn’t easy coming up with a name! I honestly kind of stumbled upon mine. Once I thought about it, it seemed to resonate deeply with my soul! So, here’s a little background. Prior to starting my business, I was trying to maintain working full time, in addition to being a caregiver for my parents. Juggling a work schedule and numerous doctor’s appointments was proving to be quite difficult. Ironically, this all coincided with the beginning of the pandemic and the world shutting down. I found myself try to figure out what I could do next. I ultimately decided that wanted to start my own business so that I could have more time freedom. Then the journey to a name began. As I was trying to find a name for my business, I was adamant about it fully representing myself and my values! I wanted to incorporate my “caring nature” and my solid foundation. Throughout everything I have endured, it has always been my faith that has kept me from drifting, like an anchor. Thus, the birth of CAREfully Anchored. I placed an emphasis on care as homage to my role as a caregiver. My business name is my constant reminder to always go above and beyond for my clients, to always create products with care and excellence, and that my faith will always be my anchor!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
A little background on me. In 2016, I relocated back to my hometown, and I became a caregiver for my father, and later (in 2019) my mother as well. With numerous doctor’s appointments weekly, and a not so understanding boss, it became apparent that I could no longer work in a conventional job setting. After a whirlwind of a year in 2019, with my father being blessed to have a kidney transplant, only to have my mother close out the year in Cardiac ICU. After not working the entire year, I began to try to figure out what I could offer and what is my purpose. I had always worked in customer service as an Administrative Professional, so I began to think of ways to monetize those skills. It was then that I stumbled upon becoming a Virtual Assistant. I could provide administrative support from the comfort of my home, while making my own schedule. As a Virtual Assistant I currently help small businesses and solo professionals with administrative tasks like data entry, calendar management, travel arrangements, email maintenance, and social media management. I can also assist with branding. I help with names, logos, and any other entity needed. This frees up their time which allows them to focus more on their goals and growing their business.
Another aspect of my business is Customized Crafts and Apparel. I enjoy bringing my clients’ visions to fruition. I have had the pleasure of creating custom branded items for businesses, T-shirts for family reunions, custom gifts for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, and so much more!
One of the things I pride myself on is my attention to detail, whether it’s with my Virtual Assistant clients or a craft project. I thoroughly enjoy seeing things come full circle. My desire is always to help others see the beauty of their passions.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the most important lessons I had to learn was to stop expecting support for certain people just because I always supported them. You’d think that certain people would want to support you on the strength of the constant support you gave them. I had to stop expecting “me” from people. One instance sticks out to me. I was asked to put a logo on an item by someone I had supported for years and was grossly underpaid! The person refused my price. I only accepted what they offered in order to be done with it. Not only did they refuse my price, but they sold the item for way more than they paid. It taught me a valuable lesson about not allowing personal “loyalties” to interfere with business, and it also taught me to quote prices upfront to avoid confusion.
Have you ever had to pivot?
One of the biggest pivots I’ve made in life was deciding to quit my job and move back to hometown, after being gone for 12 years, to help take care of my father who was on dialysis due to end stage renal failure. I always said I would never move back, however it turned out that it was the best decision I ever made! All of the events I experienced led me to birthing my business!
