We recently connected with Tiffany Clark Interior Designer and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Tiffany Clark thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you think folks should manage their own social media or hire a professional? What do you do?
Do I manage my own social media? Yes, I manage my own social media, however, it’s very time consuming and it’s not easy. You’re essentially your own social media manager. You’re doing multiple jobs such as; Content strategy, where you have to come up with different ways to be creating so that you can develop and implement new ideas. Customer relations and response, engaging with my supporters letting them know I truly appreciate all of their support! Without them I wouldn’t have such a wide range of supporters and be noticed all over the world! Then you also have brand promotions which ties in with having good quality videos and photos. If you’re producing consistently and efficiently brands will begin to reach out for collaborations and promotion opportunities, which will allow you to reach a broader audience as well. You’ll also have to educate yourself on how the algorithm works. Each day has a different time to post. So it’s important that you lean how the algorithm operates so that your posts will be seen when the apps are being used the most.
Social Media plays an essential role in my business. 95% of my cliental comes from social media without me having to spend a dime! My work literally speaks for itself, I’m blessed to have a career that I not only love and was meant for but that also sells itself. With that being said, there are opportunities for campaign planning to build an online community. Groups within the social media apps that cater to your career will also help you to broaden your audience.
I made the choice to be my own social media manager because when I first started out it was a way for me to save money, plus I’m very computer savvy so I thought why not!? The results have been absolutely amazing! My online audience grew overnight with organic followers and comments. Being consistent with good quality videos and posting at the right time really does make a difference. As my business and audience grows more and more each day, I have had thoughts about hiring someone to take over.
For anyone looking for advice on what to do or where to start you literally just have to begin right now today. Even if you have to start a new account, which is what I did. Started from scratch so I could have a blank canvas to attract the right audience. Just because you have a lot of followers doesn’t mean it’s your targeted audience. That was my case with my previous account. Sometimes starting fresh is for the best! Once I started my new account with my business name, strictly posting business related videos with hashtags catered to my business or what’s in the video everything changed. I also made sure my page was aesthetically pleasing, it don’t necessarily have to have a specific color scheme throughout your page but you do want eye catching photos, things that people will gravitate towards or be inclined to see more of.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I always knew that I would end up being an interior designer it’s just something that God instilled in me. However, I didn’t believe in myself enough at the time. It was due to my own fears and setbacks. They say that fear is a number one sit back in life, and that statement couldn’t be more true. Interior design is not something that I just woke up one day and wanted to do. I was literally born with a gift from God. I’ve been into interior design since a very young child as far back as I can remember, was the age 12 to 13. I started out by designing things in my own room and then it bled out into to the rest of my parents home, then on to my aunts, uncles, friends anyone who would let me design their house lol. I was obsessed with playing the sims on the computer. My favorite part was designing the homes. I would spend hours a day on that game just designing homes. That’s probably when I fell in love with designing. I grew up watching HGTV all the time, my favorite show at the time was Design on a Dime, and Property Brothers who don’t love them right.
Fast forward to 2009 I joined the military for nine years, army Hooah! During this entire time from 13 to now in the army, I never stop doing interior design I was still always designing either my home or someone else’s home frequently. In 2018 is when I decided to not reenlist into the military and pursue interior design as my career. I had been self educating myself for 15+ years, I wanted to expand my knowledge so I took a course at “The Interior Design Institute” to receive my diploma in interior design. I was so excited, but even still, I let my fears get in the way even though people would tell me how good I was and I knew I was good. With my corporate job, I was making good money and we had great benefits. I knew a check was coming and I knew how much, with me stepping out into my own realm, I would lose all of that, and that was scary!
It was literally one of the scariest and intimidating situations I have ever been in. I knew for a while that this is what I was supposed to do. I would talk to God and myself about it all the time, I could literally feel it in my soul.
What truly changed the game and helped my thought process was reading “Woman Evolve” by Sarah Jakes Roberts. Halfway through the book all those fears that I had started to diminish, by the time I was finished with the book I knew exactly what I needed to do! My life has not been the same since. The things I used to stress over are no more, the fears I used to have, what fears!? After I finished the book the left my corporate job, my life has changed drastically for the better!

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
For me I actually stated my business with zero dollars. I didn’t have the money but I had the faith! When it comes to starting a business you have to fully believe in yourself and what it is you’re starting. If you don’t believe and have the confidence then how can you expect others to, especially if you need investors. I was always waiting on the “right” moment, when the truth is, there is no right moment. There will always be something going on in your life. So if you have a plan and a vision but you’re waiting for that “right” moment to start you could be waiting forever! You have to have the faith that God has control and he will guide you the right way. You just have to be obedient and trust blindly, yes, I know it’s a lot easier said then done, but the things we want most in life are not easily attained. It takes hard work dedication, determination, and most importantly faith.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
When I finished my interior design school I reached out to numerous Design firms seeking employment. One thing about the Interior Design world is the firms are typically close knit, meaning they’ve already established a certain work environment or don’t hire often at all.
After spending so much time into curating what I thought was the perfect portfolio to only be turned down time after time was very discouraging. I somehow let the no’s determine my greatness at the time, I even stopped doing designs for other people for a bit.
That test became apart of my testimony! See, I didn’t know it at the time but God had bigger and better plans for me. He didn’t want me working for other people anymore, it was time for me to elevate and step into my purpose. After being in a rut for a few weeks God woke me up and said you’re to have your own business, you’re to be your own boss. You’ve been seeking this exact opportunity for years and I’ve placed it right in front of you, just trust me. That’s exactly what I did! I started my own company allowing God to guide me and it’s been mind blowing!
