Tiffany, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.

I’m not sure if it’s technically “cheating” or skirting the question to say that every single client / “project” that I work on is meaningful to me. It can be so easy, especially in a creative profession as “accessible” as photography, to fall into an easy and manageable routine and to treat your families like “just another project” to complete, but it’s so important for me to treat each family with meaningful intention and care.

I believe that you just never know what someone is going through and what they have previously been through to arrive where they are now, in your inbox, inquiring for your services.

I have worked with families who have experienced multiple previous womb losses and are awaiting and expecting their first child after years of waiting, hoping, and praying. They are simultaneously in a state of grief, stress, anxiety, and tethered excitement. It’s not always “just a family photograph” and I strive to provide an experience that is worthy of the once-in-a-lifetime milestone that welcoming a child into your life is. You deserve to have your story heard, told, and honored.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

My name is Tiffany Chi and I am the owner and lead photographer of Tiffany Chi Photography. I specialize in Fine Art Portraiture for Maternity, Labor & Delivery Birth, Newborn, Fresh 48, Baby and Family Photography.

My approach is quite different than your average photographer, as it is personalized, relational, & authentic. I strive to highlight natural connection between you and your loved ones. My photographic style is influenced by my Fine Art education and many years of painting and observing light, people, and relationships. My images are soft, natural, light and airy, with a tinge of ethereal romance. I love to create images that you can feel and revisit years from now.

I believe in a custom photography experience that is intentional and meaningful, rather than rushed and generic.

I offer Sessions either outdoor on location, in home, and/or in my natural light Studio located in Brea, California. I happily photograph throughout Orange County, Los Angeles, the Southern California region and am also available for travel.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

My heart is to be able to create living art for mothers and their loved ones. As a mother myself, I deeply relate to the overwhelm, the constant reminders of time passing reflected through our childrens’ faces year after year, and the desire to preserve the brief and tender moments that we so often miss because we’re so engrossed in our day-to-day responsibilities. I want to provide an experience that allows mothers to remember to be present in their own lives, feel seen, honored, and beautiful.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?

I am still actively trying to unlearn my perfectionist tendencies born out of my childhood trauma and the need to manufacture a sense of security within an environment of constant instability from my family of origin. I’m still learning that perfection is unrealistic and that it will never provide me with the affirmation that I’m looking for: simply that I am enough as I am.
