We were lucky to catch up with Tiffany Broxton recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Tiffany thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
As far as I can remember I’ve always been creative. My original path was Fashion Design. I enjoyed creating for my doll’s, designing clothes, drawing for them and making things that they could use too feel better. Not that a doll could feel but to me they could and they had to be beautiful.I’ve taken the many opportunities and situations that I’ve been placed in over the years too help carve out the path that’s currently before me. Being a creative, I’m blessed to be able too learn from other’s in order to make things my own.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Where do I begin?.. Since childhood I’ve been a creative. I’ve sewn things, drew thing’s and now I make soap. Having the ability to to create is a blessing , sometimes overwhelming but a blessing. When I created Throwing Notes in 2020 it was out of necessity not creativity but slowly I found that others needed what I was providing for myself and my family. The main focus of Throwing Notes is to provide safe, natural products that cater to those with skin sensitivities and fragrance sensitivity. There’s so many people out there that love fragrances but can’t be near them due to it being to overwhelming or simply full of phthalates and other chemicals that are harmful to the lungs, body and skin.
Our mission is to provide clean products with the lowest amounts of fragrance oil’s and essential oil’s.
Just because our clients are sensitive doesn’t mean they don’t want to smell fantastic in a safe way!
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
In short, I love being able to provide a service or fulfill a need for those who trust me through my craft. Making handmade good’s is an art that not everyone has the pleasure to share with others. I’m blessed to do so.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
I believe non-creatives might benefit from understanding how hard it is to turn off your creative brain and put on your business brain in order to build a sustainable brand that caters too a target market. Most creative’s enjoy the process and find it hard too switch gears too focus on social media, marketing, legal stuff and graphic design. I can’t speak for all creatives but I find it very difficult to wear so many hat’s at once but yet I want the control of how everything needs and has to be done. Being in business is tough and even tougher if you’re a one woman show. I think if I could tell a “ non-creative “ anything I would tell them to have patience.
