Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tiffany Brown. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Tiffany thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How do you feel about asking friends and family to support your business? What’s appropriate, what’s not? Where do you draw the line?
I actually don’t ask any friends or family to support my business. When I post on my social media pages about my business or a new product, my friends and family just buy on their own. Sometimes, they will ask me to give more details on a product, but for the most part I don’t really discuss too much about my business with my family and friends.
I think business owners shouldn’t ask because you want genuine feedback and purchases/orders from those who actually believe in you and your product or service.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’ve always been a lover of fashion and I’ve always wanted to have a career in that industry. Starting my own online boutique was something that caught my attention in high school and again in college, but I kept putting it off. When I lost my job in 2019 and COVID-19 came I decided this was the perfect opportunity to get started.
Exquisite Slay offers t-shirts/sweatshirts with empowering phrases for women. We also offer an assortment of fashionable accessories and vegan/cruelty-free beauty products.
The main product I’m most proud of is our pigment lipgloss collection. Making pigment lipgloss isn’t easy, especially when it’s something you’re doing on your own – so the fact that I was able to create not one, not two, but four pigment glosses that our customers love is a great feeling.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients for me has been Instagram. I’ve noticed once we get new followers we get new orders, especially when we post an Instagram Reel.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
I send out 3-4 newsletters a month. Before doing this, I struggled to keep my customers coming back. However, once I decided to do newsletters and make it a consistent thing each month it has been a major help.
