We recently connected with Tiffany Boyd and have shared our conversation below.
Tiffany, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you get your first job in the field that you practice in today?
I actually graduated back in December of 2021! I was set to begin working in Memphis, TN after boards! But I guess God has better plans than we do! It’s funny! I interviewed with my current employer which is Fast Pace Health in Southaven, MS in January of this year and I guess the timing was off or something because I didn’t sign on with them! Around July I received a call from my amazing Clinical Director Mark Swanson, FNP-C! We set a date for an interview! We interviewed! And during the interview an emergency came into the clinic and he was called out of the room! So me being who I am! I put my lab coat on and I followed him! It had to be the BEST interview I have ever had! We did what needed to be done for the patient and continued on with our interview! That day leaving the clinic! I got in my truck! And I was like God is this it!? And maybe two days later I got a call for an offer! I accepted it because I just knew this was where I was supposed to be! We see a little bit of everything at my clinic! I love the acuity because it keeps me on my toes! And I just believe that you need that high energy to mold you into being “That Girl”! Lol! Right now I’m working on obtaining my Doctorate In Nursing Practice! Looking forward to Improving the management of Hypertension in African Americans 35 and older utilizing an educational approach through community outreach! My organization I will be implementing my scholarly project with is Second Baptist Church which is in Coldwater, MS! Where thee Eric B Givens is the Pastor! And I really look forward to giving back to where I’ve called home for 33 years! With Fast Pace Health I look forward to enjoying my journey of who I am becoming! Hopefully one day I’ll become a clinical director! I’m just grateful for an imperfect journey that perfectly fits ME! And TiffThePrettyFNP takes her talents to Mississippi! Lol!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
For most people they know I have been a nurse for 7 years! It’s my passion! My thing! I love to see people getting better and taking the best care of themselves! I’m also a nurse educator and I’m always trying to talk someone into becoming a nurse! Lol! I always tell them it’s worth it because it truly is! This is my first year practicing as a FNP! And I just love the career and life that was God chosen for me!
If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
If I could go back and change anything I’ve experienced! I would not! I would still choose this profession and definitely this speciality as a Mississippi provider! I had a Facebook memory that popped up from 12 years ago! I yes I was talking about becoming an FNP then! And I was 21! It just goes to show you manifestation is a thing! It may not be quickly but keep working and ask God to guide you! He got you!
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I literally had to unlearn wanting to bring everybody along with me! And if you are truthful about that! Everybody can’t go! Sometimes people can’t navigate into your next level of life! I had to unlearn what I want to be permanent isn’t always that! You can literally hold yourself back from not allowing dead weight to fall off! So I say this to any young lady who follows me! If it doesn’t supported the healed, prosperous, mentally healthy, and whole version of you! Let it go! And watch how God blesses your obedience! The saying goes without saying! As you get older there will be different layers and versions of you that develop! And everybody can’t handle that! So keep it realllll cute and go be great!
