We recently connected with Tiffany Black and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiffany, thanks for joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I received an email marketing a class wherein one would learn to read tarot. I thought what a fun thing to learn and that I could read cards at parties. What I didn’t understand at the time was that I was about to begin a life changing journey. Tarot is not a party trick. It is not just a peek into the future. Tarot is a powerful self development tool. By posing a well thought out question to this seemingly inanimate object and seeing what it’s response is, you are creating a safe environment for yourself to open up to possible answers that will most certainly be unexpected and challenging. When we are challenged in such a way, we are forced to expand our comfort zone to accept answers that might call out parts of our thoughts and behaviors that need attention and healing. Tarot would be the very thing that took me on a journey to heal myself.
Tiffany, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
While I had the aforementioned healing journey, I also became aware of the large tarot community on the internet. It exposed me to many individual perspectives of tarot and how to use it. I also began to see how it could be used negatively to manipulate and create dependence so the reader would gain a client who would return again and again. Having witnessed all of this, I developed my reading style designed specifically to empower my clients rather than hook them. I created for them a healing journey of their own.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
My following has mostly been on Instagram, though I’ve noticed an increase in interaction on Facebook recently. Admittedly, I am no social media marketing genius. I don’t know what to do with stats or any of the analytics. My advice from where I’m standing is simply, be yourself and be visible in your authentic presentation of yourself. Most people can sense a lack of authenticity and it creates distrust. When being yourself completely, there is a certain amount of comfort created with the audience and they are much more likely to feel confident in engaging with you and your services. I see a great deal of very clean and professional social media accounts out there that just simply have no pulse. They look fabulous, but do very little to give the potential clients a real vantage point of who they are trusting to provide service.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
As a reader, I am often approached by those who are simply uneducated about what Tarot truly is. As a new reader this felt very challenging. I loved all that I had discovered and achieved for myself with Tarot so dearly that I felt as if I needed to defend my best friend’s reputation. These days I simply invite those individuals to have a seat and experience Tarot for themselves. I have had the pleasure and delight of changing not just their perspective, but also their life by offering the insight they needed to gain clarity and peace within some delicate situations.
