We recently connected with Tiffany Alexander and have shared our conversation below.
Tiffany, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Alright, so we’d love to hear about how you got your first client or customer. What’s the story?
I was already working in the gym. I was just getting started into personal training and had started taking client. My first client was a female client that was recovering from having a mastectomy, over weight and had quit smoking. She was interest in getting into shape and losing weight but what made her get my attention was when she expressed that she wanted to fit in. I asked her what she meant by that and she said that she wanted to feel like she is still a woman since she was missing one of her breast. She made me realize that it was more than just a work out that she really needed at the time. I did more research on her condition and ended up training more on managing her condition while she worked out. She was cleared from her doctor I had communicated with her physician to confirm any restrictions or precautions I needed to be aware of and then I had started training her for 4 weeks.
She paid me for eight 30 minute sessions twice a week for 4 weeks. It was all paid in full and in advance. I was so excited when I got my first check from my client. It made me realize that my business has officially started. It was one my greatest moments that have made me more relevant with what I do today.
Tiffany, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Tiffany Alexander with Tif DancFit and I am an owner/ dance & fitness instructor. I took interest in working at a gym where I watched aerobic classes and how fitness trainers were helping their members with their fitness goals. It was then when I begin finding my passion for helping individuals with their health and wellness. I offer online and in-person classes, host and teach workshops and events. I believe my unique style and creativity is what sets me apart from others. I am most proud when I get to be a part of my clients journey as they strive toward reaching their goals. I enjoy and love what I do. I believe one of the best investments is people and I like to offer my talent and skills to help my clients achieve their goals
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I think what helped me build my reputation is my professionalism and knowledge of the business. In order for my clients to take what I do seriously, I needed to take my business serious. I had to know the business. I had to learn the ups and downs, the pros and cons. While I was learning that I handled myself professionally meaning I showed up on time to start my services, I established rapport and connected with my clients and what they wanted and I was willing to make the proper adjustments to carry out my mission of servicing my clients.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
I do take interest in learning a lot in my field of work and in order for me to make an impacting on my client’s goals I have to do the research whether it’s a seminar, a workshop, an article or book etc I try to stay relevant in the industry and stay open to learning and creating new ways of helping my clients.
