We were lucky to catch up with Tiffanie Kyttle recently and have shared our conversation below.
Tiffanie, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I started to create fun jewelry for myself, because I couldn’t afford luxurious and trendy jewelry. I was posting photos of myself wearing it on my social media channels, and people kept asking me where I got the pieces! After doing some research, I discovered that I could create beautiful pieces for people at a fair price point, and Tropical Boho Designs was born!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Tiffanie, and I am a Social Worker by day, Creator by nights/weekends! I love to create tropical content on my Instagram (Tropicallytiffanie) and I’ve recently started my own jewelry line Tropical Boho Designs!
I first started my Instagram account when my husband and I first moved to FL 5 years ago. We came down on a whim and I had started my own business reselling clothes and shoes, which is how I gained all of my initial following. After about a year, I struggled with being self employed and missed seeing and socializing with coworkers, so I went back into the work force!
I had grown my account so much, and didn’t want to get rid of it, so I did local blogging and got to work with a lot of small businesses over the years! My account has been ever changing, but now I’m focusing on self care, local brands/businesses, and my new jewelry line!
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
When I first created my jewelry, I created SO many colorful and bright pieces, and everyone loved them on social media, but no one purchased any. I got real down on myself, then I researched trends, changed my designs, and have successfully sold the new designs! Sometimes it’s all about trial and error!
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I started off as a reseller and sold decorative hangers! It’s all about creating something that no one else has before, or adding your own little touch to something! Be yourself, I always say “will people think I’m the same person if they met me in person compared to what they see online?” And if anything doesn’t align right, I quickly try to regroup, I never want to portray myself to be someone I’m not!
