We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tiffani Michelle Mapp a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Tiffani Michelle, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
The most meaningful project that I have worked on is my current forthcoming 7th studio self-titled album, ‘Tiffani Michelle’ and my debut magazine, “Music Therapy.” These projects are a manifestation of my healing and evolution as a “Woman Divine designed by the Most High.” My albums and visuals captures my journey as I continue in my purpose to speak life to women in my diverse platforms fusion as a Neo-Soul Artist-Songwriter-Producer, Psychology & Mental Health Services Professor, and Counselor.
After my divorce in 2005, I evolved and transitioned from a Professional Singer for weddings and special events to beginning my career as a Neo-Soul Artist-Songwriter-Producer in 2010. I had many life challenges and had to learn how to adapt as a single parent to my son while maintaining my career as a Counselor. During this journey I experienced many health challenges. My first major challenge was my diagnosis with Breast Cancer in 2006 at the age of 34 years old. My diagnosis came as a shock to me, but my son was my inspiration and I had to fight so he would not be alone in this world without me. My father, Minister William C. Donaldson told me “To do not look at the waves, but keep your eyes on God.” With this mindset, I went through progressive chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and took Tamoxifen for five years while continuing working. I am blessed to be in remission and not to lose my breast; However, I had another health challenge with diabetes in 2014. At the age of 43 years old I went into a diabetic coma and was coded dead three times. My parents was told by my doctors if I survived I would be a vegetable. My son was in the Spring semester of 8th grade during this time. He was my inspiration to get better. I prayed to God and asked “May I live to see my son graduate from High School.” After three months of hospitalization learning how to move and walk again and living in a nursing home for two weeks for physical and occupational therapy, I was healed through the grace of God. The following years in 2017 and 2018 I was able to release my 5th and 6th studio albums.
In my journey I was evolving to me as I vibrate higher. I captured those moments in my music. Each one my albums, many unreleased music, and my modeling visuals is music and phototherapy to my soul. It is my life in artistic form. My current forthcoming 7th studio self-titled album, ‘Tiffani Michelle’ and my debut magazine, “Music Therapy” is my presentation of who I am and becoming from my experiences that had developed me. Every obstacle, setback, detour, storm, and sunshine was instrumental to me as a woman. As a result, I have become “one’ with the music. My aim is to bring positive mindset, peace, light, and humanism that is presented in my evolutionary artistic work to help one to connect and heal.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My particular goal and mission driving my career journey is “speaking life” through my diverse platforms in music, counseling, life coaching, and teaching especially females of all ages. By example, it my purpose for all to feel good about themselves in mind, body, and soul. This is my developmental psychology in application. My music brings humanism and how I groove in the world showcasing sunshine, storms, perseverance, resiliency, and gratitude in this runway of life for connection.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
In 1992, I received an A.S. Degree in Music from Southwestern Christian College. When I transferred to Oklahoma Christian University of the Sciences and Arts I majored in Social Work and wished I would’ve double major in Music. However, I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work in 1994 only, because I wanted to help people and did not think I could find a stable job in Music to make a living. I was wrong. I really wish I would’ve talked to a Career Counselor on campus to discuss different pathways in the field of music. This would’ve led me to research different Masters programs in Music Therapy to become a Board Certified Music Therapist and Vocal Psychotherapist taking a different direction from my earned Masters degree including Doctoral studies. Nevertheless, my journey planted seeds and by my faith in God and my abilities, I watched the flowers grow in my career through my gifts, talents, and diverse skill set blending music and wellness.
