We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tierra London a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Tierra, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
When I think of the word legacy I think of its true meaning and that is the long lasting impact of a particular event, action that took place in the last or of a person’s life. I would hope that my legacy would be one of generational health, wealth, emotional and mental maturity, and one that led people to truly follow Christ. I think essentially for me as I grow older the values of life has tremendously shifted. I think of those who have left a forever impression on my heart through their legacy and impact. I hope to one day be one that people can say truly exemplified a life of Jesus Christ, impact in my family, workplace, ministry, and by everyday contact with people from all sorts of walks through life. I didn’t know that or even think I would potentially leave a legacy but becoming who I’ve become by Gods grace has tremendously shifted my perspective.
Tierra, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
By Gods design I’m a chosen vessel. I’m deeply grateful for being gifted by God to lead people to Christ from all sorts of walks of life. I’m blessed to share the gospel by ways of social media, Bible studies, ministry engagements, serving, and everyday connection with people. By career choice I’m a New Business Financial Coordinator at a financial firm in the City of Memphis. I’ve been in the financial industry for almost nine years and time has moved fast. I started in banking and eventually moved up in management, training new hires in banking, climbing the financial ladder, and now with almost two years of working at a firm. Being in the finance industry has afforded me favorable opportunities, walking in new doors, traveling, and being mentored by people from around the world who has over 40+ years of financial knowledge and skills. I’ve learned how to manage my own finances and becoming a better steward over my own income. It’s a great field to be in. It has its ebbs and flows but I do believe I will retire in this industry.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I started roughly around 2017, I had this idea or so I thought it was my idea but it was actually the Lords doing; encouraging people online. Initially I was just recording videos which ultimately led me to becoming a content creator, doing graphic design, and building my social media presence. I think my consistency, authentic drive, and commitment to what God has entrusted me to do has grown the social media audience. I believe that once people who are growing with you on a journey can see the ebbs and flows and transparency of the Journey; it helps them to trust you, which leads to them sharing your social media platforms with others, which ultimately leads to you growing and building a much more effective and healthy platform. I do believe I’m just getting started and I’m excited to see what the future holds with social media and my presence and the gifts of so many others that inspire me.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I initially became a content creator when it wasn’t really a think in 2017. Honestly I’ve had to continuously encourage myself on this journey to keep going. Now that content creation has become a thing, and seeing how people can become an instant popular person overnight is sometimes hard to witness. My resilience comes from knowing that I’m right where I’m supposed to be and consistency with authenticity helps me to keep growing at whatever pace the Lord desires for me to grow. There have been times when I’ve wrestled with quitting but when I think of those that I’m called to lead to Jesus Christ and the powerful fact that God has entrusted me with something different; I keep going.
