Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tiera Allen. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tiera, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
I wish I could say that my company was created by spontaneous thought, an inspiring dream, or a crazy aspiration that I looked to fufill at some point of my adult life.
The hard yet beautiful truth is that the idea for my company was birthed by a diagnosis that made me take a hard look at how I was caring for myself or lack there of.
In 2017, after having radiation therapy , my skin became very sensitive. Every product I had used for years, now recked havoc on my skin. I felt hopeless, wondering what my skin was trying to tell me.
After a year of trying several products, organic, natural, and otherwise, I finally had no choice but to start to listen to my skin. I spent countless hours researching essential oils, natural remedies, and holistic healing. The payoff you ask ? My body slowly showed me what worked, what healed, what brought my skin back to life.
It was the magic formula that started it all.
Over the next year, I perfected that formula creating organic remedies to treat excema, psoriasis, acne, inflammation, and more.
I knew after healing my skin and healing the skin of so many others, I knew I had to share this gift.
From there, I taught myself the business side of things. I created a website. I researched organic product offerings in the market and took it a step further to identify what would differentiate my products from its competitors.
I learned that while several organic body products existed, not many were aesethically pleasing. In addition, many were rough in texture or were heavily fragranced.
We held the answer and excecuted our formulas in a new way to be gentle on the skin, light on the fragrance, and pleasing to the eye.
Over the last couple years, we’ve encountered trials, ingredient shortages due to Covid, and had to make adjustments to maintain our business. With each challenge, came a renewed passion and determination to continue to do what we love and caring for our customers.
Our company has now been in business for over 3 years. We are constantly reimagining what is means to shop organic and redefining what it means to fall in love with your skin again.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Who am I ? I am a mother, a wife, a dreamer..I am a female business owner whois genuinely devoted to all things that bring joy and healing to my life and into the lives of those I love.
I fell into the industry by first learning to heal myself. Once I was able to heal my skin through the products I created, I felt I had no choice but to share that gift of healing with as many people as I could. The joy I get from helping people by far surpasses the business aspect of providing the healing as a product.
Our company provides a wide range of customized organic bath and body products that treat Excema, psoriasis, acne, skin discoloration, as well as provides healing for inflamed and damaged skin.
While we have house soaps that can be purchased a La carte and can be used to treat a variety of skin conditions , our speciality is customization. We work one on one with our clients to offer the best ingredients to address their skin concerns at affordable and competitive pricing.
This service is what sets us apart. Its customized organics at its best.
To date, while our sales speak to our success to provide healing to our customers, our biggest accomplishment as a company has been helping other women learn to listen to their bodies and to heal themselves through self care. We pride ourselves on how many women we can impact and help, and the level to which we maintain genuine connections with our customers.
What I would like the reader to know about our brand is that we are the representation of creating something beautiful from something meant to hurt you. My cancer diagnosis is what sparked the creation of this company and allowed me to identify the things in my life that were not bringing value. It allowed me to produce something that transcends far beyond what I ever imagined pre diagnosis. This is why I encourage all those I connect with to love every part of the good and bad ; as there are blessings that can be born from both.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I’m sure as other business like mine who were in place precovid , we all had to learn how to think outside the box and be creative with our Business models. Covid brought on challenges with pricing, ingredient shortages, distributor closures, and a need for our company to drill down to what our customers needed the most from us. We had to constantly work with them to identify the most valuable ways to connect with them as well as to provide consistent service without compromising our brand quality and reliability. We realized that as the lifestyles and needs of our customers changed, we had to change just as quickly. We did just that. We worked one on one with them and introduced our customized organics service. This service allows us to provide our bars in larger quantities at a lower cost per product. We realized that having this service in place, in addition to our alacarte services positioned us to better serve our customers long term.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
With social media these days and all the new content we have to create to stay relevant, it is hard at times to compete with the algorithms of it all. We were losing engagement and sometimes our post weren’t reaching our intended audience. Once again , we got to work and decided to engage in a more authentic way to create the value we couldn’t seem to create via social media. We connected in person, and dove into customizing the experience of our customers in real life. We preservered, realizing that while social media can create value, creating value in real life wins every time.
