Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tiara Crowley. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Tiara, thanks for joining us today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
I was in college at the time majoring in Dental Assisting. I also was helping my mom at
her business for income. At that time I thought to myself what
I would do next in my life just in case things didn’t work out. I
had a talk with one of my good friends about life such as
finance, relationship, self esteem, insecurity and just simply not
feeling good enough or beautiful in our own skin. I remember
as a little girl I would overthink a lot. I wouldn’t wear certain
clothes because of how little I was or how my hair was styled
because kids were so cruel. And these insecurities sometimes
follow you as an adult. I knew earlier on I wanted to help other young women
who were secretly battling this problem as well. In 2018, I decided to do some research on how to properly start a business. an I created my first business with the vision to empower and uplift women. I felt like God gave me a vision that only I could bring to life. I took advantage of my creative energy and designed my first t-shirt brand with simple but strong words, “Adore My Beauty.” I then posted my shirt, and my backstory on social media and instantly got positive feedback from people who wanted to support me emotionally and financially. Shortly after having success from my t-shirt line, I expanded my orders to include an array of custom bonnets, bags, decals, and other unique accessories. People from many backgrounds and demographics began to reach out to me for creative branding ideas to promote their business. It brings so much joy to me to see the happiness my customers feel when they see their customized products. I know my purpose is to uplift, motivate, and encourage others through the creativity of my work. What I have learned on this journey called life, is that, success has many interpretations, some equate success with wealth, others equate it with accomplishing a goal. For myself, I define success as both interpretations. I have a plethora of encouragement and ideas to give to others and each time I create a vision for someone; it adds more reason for me to expand Adore My Beauty. Four years later after launching my business. I wouldn’t say everything as been easy but it was definitely worth it in the end.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started this business with one vision and that’s to uplift and empower other individuals like myself. I’m most known for my specialization in T-shirts, bonnets, car decals and more. I’ll say what sets me apart from others is that i sit back and listen to people and really acknowledge their needs. I’m most proud of my journey in life seeing how much my business and myself have grown over the last four years. I’m happy i never gave up or lost site in God no matter how hard and frustrating things got over the years i remained humbled. The main thing I would want people to know is that its never to late to start a new chapter in your life. Always believe in yourself an your visions, remain humble and never give up.
Okay – so how did you figure out the manufacturing part? Did you have prior experience?
I design and create my own products from beginning to finish. When i first started out i had no clue what i was doing. i basically thought myself everything when it comes to my business. i researched a lot of products that i needed to get me started. I watched a lot of you tube videos and went from there. shortly after i created my own website on wix and started uploading my products.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
First i figured out the audience i wanted my products to target. I started adding those people I engaged and networked with other business owners and groups on social media and i made sure i was posting my content regularly. The advice i would give to up coming business owners or anyone who’s just starting to build up on social media is to stay constant figure out the audience your targeting, join these free groups on facebook and instagram an be open to networking with other business owners.
