We recently connected with Tiana Shai and have shared our conversation below.
Tiana, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
One of the biggest risks I have ever taken was when I gave up a successful career in cosmetology to pursue my true passions. One day I just decided that I couldn’t continue to live life in a way that didn’t feed my creativity, so I dropped all of my clients and went after my dreams.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My husband & I own The Gas Station Studios & Gas Station Film Studios which is the first film studio in North Las Vegas. The studios host all things creative from small creative events, to photography, videography, music production, recording, mixing & mastering. We have 3 recording studios, a podcast studio, and in the film studio there are 9 individually themed custom film sets from a jungle to a court room.
I am an island pop artist and am gearing up to release my 3rd project this month. I am also a producer, engineer and I mix & master all of my music myself as well as having a huge clientele of other artists that come to work with me from all over the world.
One of the things that sets me apart from others in the industry is that I am a woman who can do everything creative at industry standard level. Only 2.8% of music producers are women. So me being a part of such a rare distinct part of the industry is definitely special to me.
I want to continue to inspire other women to create space for themselves in this industry aside from just being artists. We can literally do it all!
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I believe one of the things that helped my business build a great reputation in the community is our professionalism and the quality of our work. When people talk about the Gas Station, they often mention the quality we provide. It’s always consistent and that definitely helps us stand out.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my following on social media by taking a lot of the work load pressure off by batch creating content. I would pick one day a week and create content for the whole week that could be used across multiple platforms. Once I did that I was able to post consistently, which grew my following at rapid rates.
Also making sure to exchange social media info in every networking situation allowed me to make personal connections and create collaborations within my creative field more often.
