We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tiana Moneyy . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tiana below.
Tiana, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
-“You weren’t held back you were pulled back.” That quote from Sarah Jakes Roberts changed my perspective on my childhood. Their vigilance, structure and control of the household created 2 tenacious daughters.
Growing up in the early 2000s in Chicago meant you learned to do the Cha Cha slide. There’s one particular line in the popular line dance that goes “Hands on ya knees, hands on ya knees!” Wherever we were and current colloquialisms arose they’d be sure to see how I’d carry myself. Having a Spiritual relationship is something I’d like to highlight as well. Not only did going to church reinforce personal principles, it provided fellowship and second sight for yours truly.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
All of my life I’ve been involved in the arts. From dance and choir to interior decorating for live events and a small bistro. After earning a BA in Economics in 2018 I pursued careers in corporate America; quickly realizing I wouldn’t be there forever. Not too long after, I pursued becoming a social media influencer by way of hair care , fitness, and representation. Months later I started appearing on multiple platforms and digital projects as a model and/or guest speaker. With my influence rising and more people listening and reaching out, I started to speak out on my own platform in support of authenticity and naturalism.
From there I was able to land multiple interviews while starting over in my path. Today I come to you all as a consultant in the world of advertising, entertainment and visual arts. Providing clients with strong intuition in practical affairs, understanding, high energy and competency, with fine and delicate taste.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
My perception of success had to change in order to find my own pace. No matter how much you want partnerships to workout all parties involved have to share the same vision and work ethic. You’ll fall in love with peoples’ potential and make long term decisions based on potential alone. Eventually I realized I had to go and get it on my own in order to have the respect I deserve as an individual. A very humbling yet necessary experience.
In 2020 a young woman who gained clout from a niche social media group reached out to me and a few others in order to collaborate and network. The project was more than fruitful. I’d never had that much consistent traffic on my page before. Needless to say we hit it off because of a mutual demand/desire for agreement. But when things move fast and personalities aren’t weighed, there’s a false sense of loyalty and friendship.
At the time she was demanding more than what I had to give and I didn’t communicate that. Instead, I met her with sharp/blunt words and offense. At the time I couldn’t understand her lack of perceptiveness because mine was so acute. But that’s what happens when you’re eager to swim the deep end of the pool. Expectations of others, 9 times out of 10, turn situations sour/heated.
However, I’m still blessed.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Personally the best source of new clients have been close friends. Having a circle of entrepreneurs and business minded individuals keep me busy until it’s time to scale up. Being able to use what I have creatively and intellectually to help them make individual strides makes it all worth while. We ride!
