Tiana, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Are you happier as a creative? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job? Can you talk to us about how you think through these emotions?
Since I left high school in 2016 I want to be an actress and model. But being 5’2 in modeling isn’t easy and honestly I’ve ran into so many scams when it comes to acting. But I’ll be honest it’s not to I started having kids did I start wondering if I should get a “normal job” I mean at less I know when I’ll be home and when I’ll get paid. And while pregnant I tried it. I got two different jobs do to things being slow in BG acting when I was pregnant with my first son. It was ok, but made me yearn to be on set. Because being on set made me feel relaxed like a bubble bath. Yes, it can be long and unpredictable. But I get to see so many new places and meet so many people plus I’m not stuck indoors all the time. Now you think one pregnancy would show me that nope. My first showed me “9-5” wasn’t for me but what about stay at home mom/housewife. Now don’t get me wrong I love my kids and raising them but mom needs her time and even though I miss them. It makes me happy knowing i’m making a better mommy for them and a better future financially for them. It’s hard to pour when you’re empty. That’s literally why I started making content on social media it made me feel like I was doing something helping my family in a way. Because now I’ve started finding ways to make income online. At first I thought that was going to be enough but the hole of missing set, going down the runway, or going to photo shoots never disappeared fully. So in my opinion I am happier being an artist Plus apparently my husband says I am crabby when I’m not doing nothing I love.
Tiana, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Who am I! Will I’m Tead. Just your a nerdy cosplaying wife, loving fun social media mom, short African-American model, and young face actress.
Mmm maybe I should brake it up. So you’re get the full me. I love cosplay because it’s fun and relaxing to me. Since I was younger dressing up was all my thing. To the point I found three careers that allow me to do that plus one more on the side.
First is cosplaying on social media. Where I provide fun content for my follows as will as share brands that reach out to me at bunnandfox@gmail.com or brands I found. Either way I come across a brand I share them in a fun loving way like they was my own. You can check me out on tiktok@actingtead or YouTube/Instagram @modeltead. I take pictures with and of the product or service. I’m your tiny social media pit crew at home. But that’s not the only thing I do on social media I game/nerdy talks with my husband bunnandfox my n tiktok and make family contact mostly cute memories with my kids on bunnandfoxden on TikTok. Even cooking @Taste of the Den on TikTok, I know it’s a lot but it keeps everything in it own little box plus it helps brands reach their target audience.
Second is modeling of those. Yes, I’m 5’2 but I promise I have the Joyful open personality that can light up bigger then a giant! I specialize in commercial since across-the-board they don’t require a height requirement. I’ve done swimsuit, glam, parts and so much more. But that isn’t to say when I get the chance to walk on the runway I don’t tear it up.
Thirdly is acting. I know clothes is the only part but I does set the tone out of word. I am a young face actress. I’ll done speaking on a film called spoken as will as background work for Tyler perry, The Resident, Blocker, and Black lightning to name a few..
I’ve been pursuing my passions since I graduated high school 2016 so that’s at less 7 years in the game but I’ll be honest I’m hunting for more so if you need me email me tiana.deanwork@gmail.com for model and acting projects.
O yeah I promised you a fourth job will its being a mom. No, I don’t have a biological daughter but remember a prince is dressed up too. I have an almost 2 year old dec baby and. almost 6 month June baby both boys. We cosplayer and match outfits. Even though it hard to do since for some reason baby clothes makers don’t think moms wanna match their baby boys. But I make it work this dinosaur/camo lemons I’m going to make me lemonade.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
When it comes to acting probably actors access. I knew about them but I also thought they were a scam because a lot of things in acting if you’re paying upfront most times it’s a scam especially with agencies but I went out on a limb after one of my acting friends had told me it’s not a scam. Honestly they were right I actually got my first paid gig on there even though I was pregnant at the time while my first son as a teenager.
Background work it would have to be Facebook because just typing in casting companies in your area can find you a lot of work. And as a performer you need your feelers between your speaking rules it’s like getting you a waitress job but in your field. Plus what other job can you do nothing and still get paid for it.
Modeling I don’t have a pacific site but becoming a social media Contant creator shows your skill in front of a camera. Instagram is your portfolio. YouTube and TikTok is your reel. Pretty much showing you out side of your height in an industry where judging people on their parents is a big thing.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I know everyone as pick one, but I can tell that’s no fun. Pick three things like for me vlog, cosplay, nerdy. Then give them more like a reason for each. I vlog with my kids because their never be your size again. I cosplay because it relaxes me and allows me to tell stories. Lastly. Nerdy I’m not talking about math I’m talking about anime, comic books and games because all work and no fun isn’t the life for me plus my husband loves it and it keeps things interesting.
Now that you have your what and why remember this lessen quantity over quality until quantity becomes quality. You’ll never know what you’re good at and less you keep trying things.
I have four different social media pages because I would rather put out quantity and clear my mind so that I have room to come up with more ideas then to keep trying to push my other thoughts away so I can focus on one singular topic or write them down in a notebook because you never know what somebody is looking for so it’s better at least for me to just put it out there cause you can always make a renewing video later .
