We recently connected with Tiana Dorcely and have shared our conversation below.
Tiana, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
As a biracial woman, I’ve had my fair share of experiences not knowing where I belong, where I stand, etc. I’ve been labeled based off what I look like far before having the chance to share who I am as a person. My salon, Styled Hair Co. is for everyone to feel celebrated for who and what they are, and regardless of such.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Tiana, and I’m a hairstylist and salon owner. I always knew since I was a little girl that I wanted to do hair. I personally specialize in providing both blonding and extension services on textured hair.
In my area, there is little to no education for both stylists and clients about caring for textured hair. stylists feel intimidated when textures they’re not familiar with sit in their chair, and clients aren’t given the accurate information on caring for their textured hair at home. My goal as a stylist and a salon owner is to help bridge the gap on both of those ends. To fill stylists with confidence to tackle any hair type or texture, as well as empowering clients to celebrate their textures as they see fit as well.
My salon is all about hair inclusivity and a safe space for both stylists and clients. We want anyone that walks in our doors to feel welcome by us and to leave with their cup feeling filled.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I don’t have a large platform, but built my audiences on providing personal yet relatable content in conjunction with promotional/ educational content showcasing my work. My biggest advice for those starting to build their social media presence is to be yourself, find what sets you apart from the others and use that to your advantage.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Showcasing your work in multiple ways- through entertaining, educating and promoting. This allows you to reach and relate to the maximum amount of people as possible.
