We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tiana Darling. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tiana below.
Alright, Tiana thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
If I could go back in time i feel i would start my career sooner, Just because I’ve been writing songs/lyrics since a child. My first ever rap was written when i was in 5th grade. That Era was the MySpace Soulja boy era and his come up was crazy! I believe if i started performing around like the age of like 15 i would have been on more stages. A better stage presence and many more opportunities. I believe i would’ve had the confidence instilled in me at early age. But ultimately I’m ok because i still feel I picked up writing so early it has helped my lyricism and to find my sound.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I knew since a kid I wanted to make music, like I can hear something and break it down with my ears. I like all types of music and i just wanna bring my own personal touch to music & production. It takes a lot of discipline and focus. If you really want it, you’ll make the necessary changes to be great. I’m most proud of how lyrically I’ve grown. I love reading and watching movies like i feel that and everyday life has helped with getting better on top writing everyday. I want my listeners to know that you can expect the unexpected from me. Imma do it all.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Being able to be free behind my music. It’s the one thing i know i can control and can do whatever i want to with it. Of course getting paid well enough that i can quit my job and pursue music full time.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
As a female artist. Sometimes i feel the support lacks. Not sure if it’s the people around me that just aren’t supportive because imma black woman with a different style. But the moment i wanted to give up, i had to shake that off & what those people think don’t matter. There are a lot of people wishing and watching me everyday. But the support isn’t there and i came to terms with that. Focus on the people that enjoy what i put out and do.
