We were lucky to catch up with Tian Philson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Tian, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
I talk a lot about what it feels like to look in the mirror, and not recognize the woman staring back at you. That conversation comes from a very tender place in my heart, and a very real experience for me.
The LSF Mission is focused on helping people live their most authentic and fulfilling lives. At the end of the day, that’s the end goal. We just happen to do that through coaching and yoga services. If you know what it feels like to feel disconnected from the very essence of who you are, then you know how painful it is.
I also know what it feels like to reconnect with myself, and with my own authenticity. I thank yoga, therapy, and coaching for all that inner work. For LSF, we get to see the evidence of that work in our clients through the coaching services we offer. It really is about walking alongside them on a journey, back to the person they have always been deep down. Seeing them emerge on the other side of that, lighter, happier, and more fulfilled is one of the most gratifying experiences I’ve ever felt.

Tian, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
The thing I want my clients to know most is that this is a safe space for them to get really REAL with themselves. That’s where the magic happens. Of all the things my clients come back and share it’s that they felt safe, and that they gained insights about themselves that they never could have imagined because of that safety.
Love, Strength, & Fitness takes a holistic approach to helping people thrive. To put it simply – we help people go inward, so they can go upward. We help them navigate through the clutter and the noise to get to the truth. When they do that they can reach higher levels of self-love (Love), mental resilience (Strength), and physical well-being (Fitness). They become better leaders, more confident, and more present for their families and organizations.
I got into this work through my own journey. It started with yoga, literally by accident. But once I started practicing, I loved it, and I felt my own emotional, mental, and physical transformation. Yoga helped me navigate depression and anxiety, and to cope with the stress that I was feeling in my corporate career (both internal and externally). I got certified to teach and did that for 5 years alongside my corporate career. People always talked about how mentally resilient I was, and emotionally in tuned with the needs of others. Yoga made me a better team member, partner, and parent.
When I discovered that Coaching was just as powerful, with a structured approach for transformation, I knew it was time to transition into this work fully. My path evolved very organically, and now I get to focus on helping others on their journey as my full-time career. I am most proud of how I continue to grow through all the changes and transitions. I’ve developed a new relationship with the idea of failure, an appreciation for it, and embrace all opportunities to learn. I’m proud of the depth of relationships I am supported by personally and professionally, and the impact that LSF is making as we strive to offer that same depth of connection to others.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
My brand reputation is one that is built on a foundation of trusted relationships – new and old. Being able to build and maintain trust is critical to my own authenticity and the identity of LSF (Love, Strength & Fitness, LLC). Many of my clients are a result of referrals – that is a big deal. For someone to trust my work and my services enough to put their name behind it means everything to me. So I show up with my very best because it is not just about me. It is about the person that said “You should work with her.” and the person on the other side that said “Yes.” I want to show up for people in a very real way, with high integrity. I think I’ve done a good job so far and I don’t take for granted how important that is.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Ohhhhh perfectionism. I don’t know where I learned it, but like most things, I am sure it’s roots go way back to some deep childhood experiences. I love the quote “Self-doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will.” When we try to get things perfect, the talk-track in our own mind becomes riddled with self-doubt. “What if I fail?”, “What if no one shows up for my class?” “What if I say something stupid?” The reality is – all of those things probably WILL happen. Lol.
HOWEVER, if you learn to release perfectionism you will also learn, it’s really not that big of a deal. Welcome to being human. One of my favorite things to say is “let it be messy.” I heard another teacher say that in class one time, and it really stuck with me. When I embrace the mess I have so much more fun, I get so much more done, and I learn so much more along the way. It is absolutely freeing!!
