Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tia Rouse. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tia, appreciate you joining us today. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
A defining moment in my professional career definitely stems from my own personal health. I worked as a women’s health nurse and scribe with one of the most amazing gynecologists in the Midwest, and he was also my physician before I became his nurse. I worked side by side with him for almost 5 years, and struggled with my own issues dealing with fibroids for over 9 years. Eventually I had to make the decision to keep fighting, or have a hysterectomy, and I decided to proceed with the surgery. My recovery was NOT easy, and although I worked with women dealing with reproductive health issues and hysterectomies, I was NOT prepared for the toll it took on me emotionally, physically, and mentally. I told Dr. Lyons at my post-op visit that I felt blindsided, and that I was on “The other side of the curtain”. I felt like there should be more discussion and preparation for what many women deal with after having such a procedure. I asked him, “Why isn’t anyone talking more about this? How can we prepare our women for the EMOTIONAL challenges that are linked to having something like this done?” He looked at me and smiled. Almost immediately after that conversation, God showed me that it wasn’t discussed because I need to be the one to bring up the topic. Many women feel broken, less than good enough, or even angry with their bodies for seemingly “turning on them”. It’s difficult to process something that is out of your control and directly linked to your identity as a WOMAN. But it doesn’t have to define you! Just because your body is different, doesn’t mean that you’re less than a woman. Now, I use my own personal experience to show other women that they aren’t crazy, they aren’t broken, and that it’s okay to be patient with your process and allow yourself to feel WHILE you heal.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a wife, mother, nurse, healing & wellness coach, doula, entrepreneur, and influencer. When I was dealing with my health issues, I knew that I wanted to help women heal and transform, and I began working with women, coaching them through their emotional trials and inner child traumas. I launched my podcast, Healing Her with Coach Tia. After dealing with fibroids and having a hysterectomy myself. Now. I am extremely passionate about assisting women that have had gynecological health issues and surgeries.
I am still a women’s health nurse, but I have recently launched Healing Her Wellness, LLC, where I offer professional nursing concierge care, birth/postpartum coaching, and IV Hydration Therapy. I aKai have a bath soak line, where I create intentional, all-natural wellness bath salt blends. My goal is to help women heal, give them hope, and offer top of the line professional and compassionate care from someone who understands exactly what they’re going through and can show them how to navigate through in a healthy manner.

Have you ever had to pivot?
I feel like as an entrepreneur and creative trying to find the perfect niche, it’s important to be flexible and willing to pivot at any time. I’ve been a nurse, a personal trainer, a coach, and many other things, and I’m learning that the only way to be authentic at what I do, I have to be willing to shift when the need shifts, and as a believer, I have to be willing to shift when God says, “Move!” Dealing with unexpected health issues and various storms, has shown me that I can plan all I want, but life can change at the blink of an eye, so I have to be willing to pivot in order to stay in alignment with my purpose and the needs of those sent to me.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn self doubt and insecurities. I’m still “learning” how to unlearn these things. When you’re trying to create something you’ve never seen, it can be discouraging, especially when you don’t really have a blueprint. You have to overcome comparison, imposter syndrome, and defeat. You have to unlearn close-minded thinking. You have to unlearn sharing your dreams with small-minded people. You have to literally learn how to push through in seasons that seem impossible and stay focused on the vision and the assignment God has called you to. It’s a continuous cycle of learning and unlearning, but the benefits are countless. Get out of your comfort zone! Nothing good happens there!
