We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Thresette Briggs. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Thresette below.
Hi Thresette, thanks for joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Two years after launching my business I found myself totally burned out because I had more client work than I had the capacity to deliver. While having the work was great, I thought I needed to be everywhere and accept almost every opportunity in order to survive, so I wasn’t thinking as strategically as I should. That resulted in severe burnout that almost led me to close it down. Thankfully, before giving up I chose to talk to people I felt were successful, to learn their secret sauce.
The stories I learned from those I spoke with were eye-opening. They shared their failures, successes, risks, and perseverance. What I thought was their secret sauce was their passion for their services and the right mindset, focus, and grit. Without these things I think being successful in almost anything is impossible.
The information I got from those conversations inspired me to keep going. Several of the people I spoke with are now mentors and friends, and I’m happy to say that my business is in its 15th year, and thriving!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Performance 3 (P3) is a national leadership development firm that builds high-performing leaders.
For the majority of my career in corporate America I worked for large global companies that were in huge transformation due to bankruptcies, lawsuits, a year to get back in the black or be closed down, etc. I was frustrated and wondered why I couldn’t get an employer that was doing ‘ok’. I decided to shift my mindset to growth, and embrace what I was learning.
What I learned was how to build teams that collaborated effectively to quickly identify the root of performance problems, and how to assess and engage leaders in developing their skills, for powerful contributions to accelerating higher individual and organization performance resulting in our success and multiple recognitions.
When I left corporate America, my vision was to launch a business to help companies create opportunities for individuals and organizations to achieve high performance. My why is that I believe every leader and team can be high performing, with the right culture and the right opportunity. And we help you customize it for your unique needs.
Through our leadership development services for keynotes, assessments, facilitation, training, coaching, and consulting, we have had the opportunity to partner with small businesses and global companies in over 10 industries with over 100,000 employees and $20 billion in revenue. Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
My goal is to do things that are meaningful and purposeful, that support a legacy I believe my family and community will be proud of.
To build my brand I focused on using my strengths and gifts in the most strategic ways possible, to help others thrive. To that end I serve in various national and regional leadership roles and have a servant leader philosophy. This has helped me succeed and get to tables I never thought possible.
I’m grateful to have been featured in commercials, on a billboard, on podcasts, in national magazines, through internationally published articles and other honors. These things have contributed to establishing me as an innovative thought leader, and continues to create amazing opportunities.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I almost lost my physical voice, and the journey to get it back shifted my perspective about how and where I use it. I’ve had several opportunities to speak to leaders about how they can use their voice with more impact, intent, and influence, and have shared my voice story in a book to help others think critically. And in 2023, the book was included in a swag bag for actors at the Emmy Awards!
