Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Thomas Woodard. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Thomas , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you come up with the idea for your business?
My family decided it was the right time to start our own business. We had been looking at food trucks and trailers for a couple months. We found one in the local area, it was a converted school Bus. On our way to inspection for purchase my wife had come up with the name the Yum Bus.
We knew there was room for more food options in Bailey. There was limited options and we sought to expand locals and visitors options for food.
Starting with the original Bus, we have since also built a larger event van. We have served weddings, rehearsal dinners, and public festivals. Our Bailey site menu changes weekly and we offer full catering services.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Thomas The “driver” of the Yum Bus started his career in restaurants as a dishwasher and has worked everything from family owned establishments to private clubs, hotel, resorts and now food trucks.
The Yum Bus features an ever changing menu at local spots and public events as well as a full catering menu. At our local stops we feature sandwiches and more.
Feel free to fill out our events request at theyumbus.com to have the bus for your next event.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
We have a consistent quality even with an evolving menu. Our focus on quality no matter the size or location of our events has allowed our local community to know even if their favorite items are not on the media this week they will still be able to find the Yum in another item.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
We work as a team and do not view other team members as employees instead they are our coworkers. We provide flexibility in scheduling and share our work with them and their families.
