We were lucky to catch up with Thomas Johnson II recently and have shared our conversation below.
Thomas, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I always loved drawing and creating, but was always kept a job when I got older and have begun my creation of Raxon Universal Dominion www.raxondominion.com
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I owe a lot to David Hohensee who first encouraged me in 1991 to start and gave me plenty of avenues, Andre Batts of Dreadloclks who threw the first comic convention I ever attended, Jarvis Sheffield of black Science Fiction Society, where I met my very good friend Tyrone Jackson and last but not least Demone Amerson who is my good friend and business partner and co-creator of Raxon Universal Dominion. Tyrone encouraged me to go forward and start my comic book line from which there are now 12 completed comic books and many more on the way. We have done several conventions and sold very well.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I hope to someday finish my comics create an anime and have a toyline of Raxon Universal Dominion.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
The thing I learned was don’t be afraid to fail because nothing worth having comes easy, and that it’s easy to become discouraged but have fun while creating whether good or bad have fun.
