We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Thomas Elias Lockhart III. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Thomas Elias below.
Hi Thomas Elias, thanks for joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
Back in the year 2000, I really believed I wanted to pursue the life of an artist. I wanted to make art and many different genres and be a diverse artist, that would impact society. I wanted my art to be inspirational and relevant to today in history.
Thomas Elias, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Thomas Elias Lockhart III. I am a self-taught mixed media Fine Artist. I work on canvas, paper and wood. I combine many textures and textiles jewelry and collage different mediums into my artwork. I got into art because I’ve loved it since a young age. I went to college for graphic design but I always had a passion for Art. It’s been wonderful to be able to combine both worlds into a passion to create inspirational art in images for other people. I have been a full-time Professional artist for almost 5 years now. I have traveled all over the country and I have been blessed to do art for a number of distinguish people in society. I am a very Diverse artist and I love different genres, and Art is a expression of our imagination and thoughts and also the creation of history in time. In my creative work problems that I like to solve for clients or how can their business relate to other people how can the artwork influence and create examples of inspiration and lifelike abilities to have a fulfilling life. I believe one of the things that set me apart from many other artist is that I am not afraid to venture away from one style to another I believe that when God was handing out gifts he gave me several, so I want to use them all to give life and hope to other people through my work. I like to do research with many of the images that I create, so the background of the image will give a wonderful story that people can follow and explain and share with other people of things he did not know existed. The thing about being an artist it’s not about just how different you are it’s about how you affectively portray your vision to other people and how well they receive it. The emotional attachment of art draws people into it and it gives them a filling of wholeness in many different ways. One of the things that I am most proud of is that I did not give up and I won’t give up. It’s important to be able to take your thoughts and your imaginations and your goals and create reality that can affect others in a positive way. I am thankful for all the support that I get from people all over the nation that have purchased my work and tell others about me, for that I am thankful. One great thing to know about me is when you purchase a image from me you get a part of me as well and you get a special time in history that we now share together. It is important that we share our gifts and talents with each other, that is the way We all grow together. Each one of us has talents and it is important that we cultivate these gifts for others. That is how we all can become successful in different levels.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
The last show I headed to, was in Charlotte North Carolina. I live in Aurora Colorado so it is a long drive. I just purchased a new cargo van for my business. When I got to Tennessee my transmission went out on my vehicle. I was still very determined to get to the art show that I was going to. So I had to have my new cargo van towed three times I had to rent another cargo van I had to take an Uber and sleep in my cargo van for over 14 hours until the dealership opened up and I was able to bring my vehicle in because it was a Sunday that everything fell apart. After I got my rental cargo van, I’ve been continued on to my destination in North Carolina. Because I wasn’t going to let obstacles destroy with my future hat for me.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
I believe society can give us space and time to create. Let us use our imagination to enhance and to create new inventions through our art and through our other creative passages. Extend more grants in more disability for us to be able to apply to use those funds to grow our talents and capabilities. This world needs Creatives and if you suppress them then you suppress the rest of society.
