We were lucky to catch up with Theresa Lorenti-Salerno recently and have shared our conversation below.
Theresa, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, let’s start with trends – what are some of the largest or more impactful trends you are seeing in the industry?
The biggest trends right now in the Window Treatment industry are motorized drapery. Motorization in general is very popular in all window treatment types but our company takes it to a new level in automating sheer draperies, Draperies with room darkening qualities, Roman shades… even our shutters!!! Another huge trend are Drapery side panels. Alot of times clients just need that little touch of softness or added pop of color without covering the whole window. So we will cover the window with a shade or a blind than layer the side panels over them. Our company prides ourselves on enhancing your space within your means. Draperies are beautiful and luxurious that said they can also be an investment. We help you make it work for your needs.
Theresa, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started my company in Rochester New York and have working background in clothing design, home interiors as well as graphic design. My love for window treatments just evolved and my business was doing fantastic in Rochester and Buffalo NY, yet Ive always had a desire to ultimately be in the warm weather and sunshine. Not really knowing what to expect I took the plunge to move to Tampa Florida seeing everything it has to offer. I was going back and forth for awhile from NYS to Florida clients,but it just became too hard. So I had to say so long to my loyal and amazing clients in NYS. Since being in Tampa sales have been amazing. I believe I am fortunate in my business because I love what I do, I enjoy meeting homeowners (new friends) and witnessing the complete project and happy customers.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Moving the business to Florida was a definite learning experience. I am from the North and all of my clients wanted treatments primarily for insulation and there were few that were risky with color. Clients here love tropical colors, arent afraid to mix wacky prints and like treatments more for the decorative element than anything. It has been alot of fun to say the least!
Do you have multiple revenue streams – if so, can you talk to us about those streams and how your developed them?
That is in the works. In the world of window treatments there is a vast difference between custom and store bought ready made treatments.
