Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to THEOPHILUS AGWUNWA. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
THEOPHILUS , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
My parents never wanted me to study art because there’s a school of taught that most artists are poor. Along the line, they started seeing the true artist in me and how lucrative art business is. My parents really did well by supporting and promoting my art career. Their support so far has brought me to my limelight in my art career pursuit.
“My parents went from doubting my art career to becoming my biggest supporters. Their support has been crucial to my success, and I’m grateful for their encouragement.”
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
As an artist, I’m passionate about capturing the essence of womanhood through vibrant colors and textures. My work explores the multifaceted stories of women, from traditional attire like Gele head wraps to everyday expressions. I experiment with various Ankara fabrics both old and new to convey the beauty and complexity of female experiences. Through my art, I find self-expression and connection to the world around me. I’m fulfilled when viewers pause to reflect on my pieces, finding meaning and resonance in the moments I’ve captured.”
