We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Thelilfairy a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Thelilfairy thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you wish you had started sooner?

Music has always been a big part of my life, I was raised on music. I always had an unexplainable love for music since I was kid, and I would fantasize about being the artist on the T.V. I dropped my first single in 2018, but I wish I started my music career sooner. I made the mistake of letting anxiety and self consciousness take over. I’m glad to have finally faced my fears, performing and release wise.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

My first single “Danger Zone” was released in December 2018, since then I’ve dropped two projects and plenty singles as well as visuals. What I’m most proud of is succumbing to the vulnerability of being an artist; performing was a huge concern for me because I’ve always been shy and struggle with anxiety. I performed for the first time in 2021 and have done upwards of ten shows since then and believe it or not I love performing! I still get a little anxious but it always fades quickly after my set starts. I look forward to performing even more in 2023.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is having people tell you about your own music and what they like about certain parts. It’s like, “wow, there are people out there that feel me.”

How did you build your audience on social media?

Building my audience on social media definitely didn’t come fast. What helped me gain my audience was consistency with quality posts, relatable content, and of course things that spark debate. Knowing your personal algorithm is definitely a key as well. It’s important you know the best times to post so you can receive the most engagement.
