Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to TheeMittenPrincess . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
TheeMittenPrincess , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
I created my latest single “What am I Doin?” This year early March and released it during the end of March on my birthday. It was honestly a hectic time, my lease was over, I throwing everything I owned away and leaving my birth place (Lansing Mi) I initially wrote the song during a period of depression where I was fighting every day to get up & go to my current job at speedway, I was cooped up in my home wondering what was next for me. Thinking about where I’ve been, what I’ve seen and everything I’ve overcame. Bringing the project to life was a beautiful experience, I worked with Michael Williams at platinum keys recording studio for the production of the entire thing. I also worked with Se’Quon Gilliam (Afterproduxx) my friend and videographer who really brought my vision to life on the visuals & Tricoci Chaney a long time friend and photographer who did the behind the scenes as well. It was such a dope experience bringing people together to create something meaningful with people who have nothing but love and talent to give!
So If you’re ever in need of great work great people & great vibes definitely check out their work, as well as the music video and behind the scenes of “What am I Doin?”

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m TheeMittenPrincess a Lansing artist, & alternative model. I’ve been making music on a serious level for about 4 years, though I did get my start in the industry with fashion and makeup. I’m all around known for my very fierce and spicy fashion and even spicer music. As well as my unapologetic views on many different controversial topics. Being who I am, as I am is genuinely what sets me apart and places me in the forefront of the minds of my community, I am simply myself and that is what I want for everyone. It’s what I preach the most Self love, self acceptance two recurring topics that implant themselves into everything I do, I like to give people insight on my own mental health, my own thought processes so that they know it’s normal to be abnormal. Everyone has a story & I choose to share parts of mine in hopes that my community of people will be more comfortable with theirs. I make powerful real & raw music on trap beats/ Detroit beats/ alternative beats, you name it.. that deep dives into my life and my genuine perspective on many things around me. I do not sugar coat and I speak to my audience as if they were my besties sitting right next to me and that’s what I’m most proud of.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
In my opinion, society could do a better job at actually supporting, even when it comes to main stream artist, I feel like there’s more talk about supporting than true genuine support. Stream a song, share a project put yourself out there to find new talent that speaks to you. I also feel like putting down the popularity contest would do everyone some good. Setting aside looks & material items and just showing love to the music & the music alone.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Due to my not so pleasant upbringing I was left with loads of negative self talk. I ended up putting myself in a box before people got a chance to stuff me in it themselves and that left me extremely unhappy and unable to do the things I genuinely wanted to do. I had to let go of the views that others placed into me at a very young age and begin to truly learn who I was/am. This is on ongoing journey of learning and loving self and as I go the more opportunities arise for me. Let go of past thoughts, they have no place in your future.
