We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Thea Weber. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Thea below.
Thea , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love for you to start by sharing your thoughts about the pros and cons of family businesses
At Prestige Events, we could not operate without our staff members who have become a family over the years, or Lynn’s personal family!
In a world where corporate america rules and produces the same product over and over again, small businesses and family ran business truly put all of their time, patience, blood, sweat, tears and love into their work. There is just something more special with working with small family ran business vs a large corporate business.
Everyone at Prestige Events makes it their mission to make sure no two events are the same! Each event’s decor is catered to what the client has in mind while putting our own personal and professional touch on it!
We owe a huge thank you to our staff members, contract workers and mostly Lynn’s entire family who lends many helping hands when we need it!

Thea , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Prestige Events all started with Lynn’s brother’s wedding. Lien had agreed to craft the flower arrangements for his big day. Little did she know, it went so well that she found herself preparing the weekly floral arrangement at their home church for the next 12 years. Soon after, Lien committed herself to her career by pursuing classes taught by famed florist Frankie Shelton, AIFD, and became a certified Texas Floral Designer as well as a member of the American Institute of Floral Designers. It was then that she launched her dream business, Prestige Events. It began as a small flower shop but soon evolved into a blossoming biz. Just a few years after opening, she added a linen department as well as lighting, props, draping, select furniture and much more. Prestige Events quickly became known as Houston’s premier one-stop-shop for upscale wedding needs.
The city’s white-hot wedding industry has also challenged us to keep up with the latest trends and techniques in floral and design as H-Town brides are always seeking to go above and beyond when it comes to their big day bash. Lien’s ability to provide custom design props like tall, large-scale candelabras or mirrored columns makes her a valuable asset to brides in search of exclusive looks and accessories. If a requested prop involves welding or framing, it can be done!
Lien’s close relationships with area vendors and intimate knowledge of the city’s venues allows her to facilitate the best and most effective ways to decorate and manage the wedding scenes she creates. Her ultimate goal is to make each bride and groom’s vision a reality, as well as provide fresh concepts and unique touches that create beautiful memories to last a lifetime.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I have been working with Lynn for 3 years now and when I first started with her, Prestige had a rough social media presence. Lynn is such a busy woman and definitely needed help keeping up with the socials.
I had started building our Instagram Page firstly as that was already established. I then created our Facebook page that now has just under 400 page likes and almost 500 flowers! Our Facebook page serves as one of our main inspiration spots for our clients.
I then created our Pinterest Page that now has 280.3k monthly views, thousands of saves and many followers. We then created our Yelp page and created many updates to our Google page.
Advice for those just starting would be, spend time looking at the trends, find similar businesses and see what they post! Just start and don’t give up!

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is when our team hides right before the bride and groom comes in and we get the chance to see their faces when they have the room reveal. It seriously brings tears to our eyes each time when we see our couples tear up and the pure joy they display when seeing our hard work.
Our team spends countless hours on each wedding from starting in the consultation process, to the ordering/researching, then the building and designing process. Lastly is the set up day that begins very early the day of and doesn’t end until our team comes in to strike after the wedding.
Our entire team truly loves what we do and we put our love into the work we provide to our clients. Essentially we feel like we are giving our love to each couple that chooses our services!
