We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Thea Velic a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Thea thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s talk about social media – do you manage your own or do you have someone or a company that handles it for you? Why did you make the choice you did?
For the most part my social media is mostly me, but this is the first year I have hired help! I have a local social media manager that will take content I’ve made, help me make content or put together content we already have. She’ll schedule my posts, help me manage responding to inquiries and so much more. It’s been an amazing load off of my shoulders to have some help with such an integral part of my business.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’m Thea! I am a Minneapolis/St Paul Metro Real Estate agent. I got into the industry in 2018, and have sold over 200 homes since then. My goal is to create an above and beyond real estate experience for my clients. It is and never will be lost on me that I am helping people through one of the biggest moments of their lives, and their trust in me during that process means the world! My biggest focus is and always will be creating the best home buying and selling experience through honesty, integrity, attention to detail, hard work and overall care for my clients!
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I absolutely had to unlearn that a Real Estate agent has to wear EVERY hat in the industry. Early on in my real estate career I remember being taught that the agent had to do everything — when in fact no business can be successfully ran by one person. One of the best things I’ve done for my business is learning the power of leverage. I now hire out the tasks that I can so that I can focus more of my time on my clients, market education and overall being a better agent (while not being bogged down by tasks that can be done by others!)

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
This sounds very simple, and sometimes my business partners and I laugh at how ridiculous it sounds, but show up every single day (even when you don’t feel like it). Be authentic, and add value. Do an audit on your social media, and ask yourself “Would I hire me?” I treat my social media as a portfolio… a place where prospective clients can go and not only see my sales history, but get to know me and get a front row seat into my life. It has taken YEARS to grow my following, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I have a small, but very loyal following… quality over quantity is always the way to go!
