We’re excited to introduce you to The Wedding Officiants. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with their co-founder, Lacey Darcy, below.
Lacey, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Being a business owner can be really hard sometimes. It’s rewarding, but most business owners we’ve spoken sometimes think about what it would have been like to have had a regular job instead. Have you ever wondered that yourself? Maybe you can talk to us about a time when you felt this way?
I’m incredibly happy as a business owner! And guess what? I actually do have a regular full-time job! I do sometimes wonder what it would be like to focus solely on that. The last time I had that thought was right in the middle of wedding season, juggling client contracts, communications, social media, and coordination for The Wedding Officiants—all after a full week at work. I remember sitting down one evening wondering how much simpler life could be if I just did one job.
Then I think about the work Aixa does as our full-time officiant and how meaningful it is. Even though I’m more in a supporting role for The Wedding Officiants, handling operations, marketing, and logistics, being part of helping couples celebrate their love is incredibly rewarding. Seeing their joy and knowing the contributions we make to help create memorable experiences for them reminds me why Aixa and I decided to do this together.
Having a corporate job and supporting our business is challenging at times, but it’s also incredibly fulfilling. It’s helped expand my skills in organization, time management, and empathy which benefit my work in both roles.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
We’re The Wedding Officiants, a team of ordained ministers and a married couple serving El Paso, Las Cruces, and beyond. Our journey began with our own wedding—planning was overwhelming to say the least! But we were so grateful to have found our pastor at First Presbyterian Church in El Paso, who helped make our day truly special. That experience stayed with us, and after becoming members of the church, we were eventually ordained ourselves. It inspired us to offer the same care, warmth, and inclusivity to other couples.
Aixa leads The Wedding Officiants as our full-time officiant, bringing her passion and joyful spirit to every ceremony. I support her as co-founder, managing operations, contracts, social media, marketing, and logistics so couples can focus fully on celebrating their love. In addition to officiating, Aixa also manages event rentals at the church, where the spaces are available to the public for their big day—regardless of religious affiliation or none at all. We’re also mobile and happily travel wherever we’re needed to perform ceremonies.
What sets us apart is our ability to combine professionalism, organization, and attention to detail with a genuine, personal touch. Couples know that no matter their background, faith, or style, we create a space where love is honored and everyone feels welcome. We’re proud to have officiated weddings of all sizes—from intimate backyard gatherings to grand and glamorous celebrations—and we’re grateful to have been trusted to make such important moments meaningful and memorable.
For potential clients and followers, we want them to know that we value inclusivity, authenticity, and meaningful connections. Our goal isn’t just to sign the marriage license; it’s to help couples craft a ceremony that truly reflects who they are. Being part of that is the most rewarding aspect of what we do, and it’s what drives us to continue growing and serving couples with care and passion.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
We don’t have a massive following, but we do have a loyal and growing one, which means a lot to us. Honestly, the biggest and hardest step was simply deciding to put ourselves out there. It can feel intimidating to hit “post” and wonder how people will perceive you, but consistency matters more than perfection. Once we started sharing regularly we noticed people began engaging, following along, and reaching out.
My advice for anyone just starting out is to START! Post, even if it feels scary. Don’t wait until everything looks perfect or polished. People connect more with authenticity than with staged content. Share your story, show your personality, and be consistent. And sometimes, the posts you least expect will be the ones that take off and bring new growth. You never know which moment will resonate, so just keep showing up.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I think what’s helped us build our reputation most is simply getting out there and being present. We’ve made it a point to attend wedding expos, vendor showcases, and other industry events where couples and fellow professionals get to meet us face to face. Building genuine relationships has been just as important as performing the ceremonies themselves. We’ve also focused on supporting and collaborating with other small businesses in our local wedding community. That mutual support not only strengthens our connections but also shows couples that we’re part of a trusted network working together to make their day special.
