We were lucky to catch up with The Vantage Salon Team recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi The Vantage, thanks for joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success isn’t a one-size-fits-all formula, and it looks different depending on who you ask. Of course, for any business to be sustainable, there has to be a level of financial success — especially at a time when navigating the economics of our industry has become increasingly complex.
But at Vantage, we also believe success is about being proud of the work we do and showing up with a sense of purpose. When each person on the team understands the bigger vision and feels connected to their own goals within it, success becomes something we can build — independently and together. It shows up in the way we support one another, how we care for our clients, and how we grow as professionals and as people.
To us, success is measured in results, yes — but also in the relationships we build, the consistency we bring, and the ability to keep doing work that feels meaningful and stays in alignment with what we value.

The Vantage, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Yes. Vantage Salon was created with the intention of building a space that feels both elevated and down to earth, where clients feel cared for and stylists have room to grow and thrive. Our team has years of experience in the beauty industry — some of us started sweeping floors in high school, others came to it in different ways. But we all share a common thread: a love for helping people express themselves, and building community.
Our services include haircuts, custom color and foils, smoothing and repair treatments, extensions, styling — the list goes on — but what we really offer are maintenance, transformation, and self-care appointments with intention. We’re known for our thoughtful consultations, a collaborative approach, and the ability to listen and truly see the humans in our chairs.
We use and carry products we genuinely believe in, we’re committed to ongoing education and sustainability, and we prioritize quality and long-term hair integrity over chasing trends.
We solve everyday challenges like: “I hate my hair but don’t know what to do,” or “I want to go lighter but don’t want to fry my ends.” And we hold space for the bigger things too — changes in health that impact hair, or moments when someone wants their appearance to reflect a deeper shift in their life.
What sets us apart — and what we’re most proud of — isn’t just the work we do. It’s how we do it.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Referrals — hands down. When someone sends their best friend, family member, or co-worker to us, it means the world. It tells us that they not only love their hair, but they trust us with someone they care about. That’s the highest compliment.
Social media and local collaborations are also strong for us. We love supporting other small businesses and sharing a bit of the behind-the-scenes and team energy through different platforms.
Most of our clients find their way to us because they already value the same things we do — skill, communication, creativity, and collaboration.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Resilience for us isn’t just something we leaned on once — it’s something we practice daily. The beauty industry and salon businesses exist in a landscape that’s constantly shifting — trends, algorithms, economic pressures, experiential expectations, and the ‘hustle’ culture are moving faster than ever.
But instead of trying to outrun change, we’ve learned to ground ourselves in what really matters: the quality of our work, the values we operate from, and the way we show up.
There is nothing small about small business and that is our story. Resilience, for us, is adapting without losing our focus — knowing when to make a change, when to pause, and when to charge it to game of life.
