We caught up with the brilliant and insightful The Realists (Idealist & RT3) a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
The Realists (Idealist & RT3) , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
We originally met through a mutual friend, Evan Upton, where we both found a common interest in rap / hip hop. We expressed how so many artists before us and even in our lifetime have inspired us to even build the courage to rap.
In the music industry, anyone will do anything to showcase their talent and we were no different. We wanted to take part in a trend that a rapper by the name of Token was finding success in. Token would take well known beats from J. Cole and rap his own style on top of them. We wanted to show our appreciation for Token and do the same but on his originally beats.
We took the risk and in the end it worked out for us. We collectively gained 238 subscribers on YouTube from both of our individual pages along with remixing other songs to showcase our talents. We gained so much appreciation from all sorts of people. They expressed their love for us through likes, subscribing and commenting on our video.
From that moment, people told us how well we sounded together and we agreed. We took that as an opportunity to officially form the duo and begin our journey in the music industry together as “The Realists”

The Realists (Idealist & RT3) , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
We have 4 songs that are on all platforms including War, Psychopath, Champions & Back Again. We are currently working with an artist development company and collective known as “STRVNG ARTIST” with our great friends, Evan Upton & Jordan Albarado.
We want to see them strive in this business and much as they do with us. We collectively come together to collaborate and focus on the details to become better at our craft.
We are extremely proud of ourselves. We have done what many haven’t be able to do and that’s make music that we love together as a unit.
When people see us in person or even on social media, we want them to know that we love seeing people appreciate us and show love to us. We want people to know to never be afraid to approach us and have a conversation with us because we show the same love given to us back to them.
We are called “ The Realists” for a reason. We want people to know that we are real and genuine people. We express our realistic lifestyles and own stories through our music. We want people to feel like they have a connection to us and make them feel heard when it comes to their lives and stories. We want to build a bond with all of the people that support us.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Of course, we were always seen as the outcasts or never good enough. We want to show people that they have a voice and they are not alone. We drive ourselves to be known because before we were never fully seen or appreciated.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Our audience grew through the years from just being consistent with posting, releasing music and performing at shows.
As of recent, we have to give credit to “STRVNG ARTIST” because they have been able to help us grow in ways we didn’t think were possible.
