We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful The Purp Studio . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with The Purp below.
The Purp, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
The Purp Studio offers a creative space for artists, producers, engineers, songwriters and musicians, to indulge in their passion(s). The story behind our mission is to create a safe space for artists to dive into their craft and bring to life all that they envisioned and more. The Purp Studio owners are a collective of creatives so we wanted to open a space with the intent of sharing our passions with others to enjoy.
The Purp, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
The Purp Studio strives to create an experience that includes the best sound, service, and work environment. We offer services from vocal production, music production, audio recording, engineering, mixing and mastering, and songwriting. What sets our studio apart is our personal touch with our clients. We get to know each and every one of our clients and like to build with them. We want our studio to be a place where artists want to share with others and keep coming back! We are most proud of the foundation we have built and we are excited to be expanding and growing our team.
Have you ever had to pivot?
Owning a business means you are always pivoting and adjusting to trials and tribulations. I think the hardest part has been working and building our clients from the ground up. When you run a business you learn that it takes time, errors, and patience. You will get a lot of no’s before yes’s and learning to take that with pride has been a great challenge. However, the yes’s are great wins and we love to celebrate and learn from how we win over new business and/or opportunities.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Prior to owning a business, we were all creatives in the field mostly freelancing, we did have an industry backbone, but I think that is very different from a business backbone. As a creative, we usually tend to work with most people’s budgets and give discounts, etc. With a business where you have to keep the lights on, there is no just “giving out discounts.” A lot of friends would automatically assume it was free or discounted and that was something we all had to unlearn which was not giving a discount and making sure people pay for their services recieved while supporting our small business.
