We recently connected with The Not That Serious Podcast and have shared our conversation below.
The Not That, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
Our podcast started over 5 years ago with 2 friends recording with a built-in laptop microphone. Over the last 3 years, we have grown to 7 members with a professional video and audio setup including a sound mixer, several dynamic microphones, multiple professional grade cameras, and many other audio and visual production accessories. Majority of our growth and advancement has come from countless hours of research into podcast equipment, learning the nuances of audio equipment and also a lot of trial and error. Looking back at our progress, it would have definitely been beneficial for us to invest in better, more professional equipment sooner. We recently began monetizing the podcast by signing an audio licensing deal with BlueWire Podcasts and a visual advertisement partnership with Manscaped. That has allowed us to make substantial upgrades to our production. Being that the podcast started as a hobby, we were hesitant to pour money into it without any certainty of the podcast generating money. However, once our audience began to grow and we saw the potential of our show, we decided to invest more into our equipment and production.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

As the name suggests, our goal is to produce fun, comedy filled content for our audience. We release new episodes every Thursday on all podcast platforms as well and YouTube. As well as bonus exclusive episodes on Patreon. We post clips across our social media pages several times a week, Instagram, TikTok & Twitter all @thentspod and YouTube.com/notthatseriousthepodcast.
Our current focus right now is on growing our social media presence in an effort to continue our audience growth.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of our podcast is undoubtedly our audiences support. Hearing how people look forward to Thursdays because they cannot wait to listen to our new episode is something that never gets old no matter how many times we hear it. Knowing that people anticipate our releases drives us to produce the best listening experience that we can.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Our most successful social media platform is TikTok. In about 6 months of focusing on the platform we have amassed over 200 thousand followers. We have found that consistency is the most important thing to focus on while trying to build your presence on the app. We suggest making a schedule that includes at least 4-5 posts per week, taking 30-60 seconds clips from your most recent episode or piece of content. Being consistent and posting frequently definitely helped us in the TikTok algorithm.
