We were lucky to catch up with The Mouth-Breathers recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi The Mouth-Breathers, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The Mouth-Breathers have recently worked on lots of new material recently but what has resonated most with us has been our recording of never-before released works. We are waterfalling our singles leading to an album of fan favorites that have only been heard at live shows. People have been begging us to release recordings of their favorite songs and we’re really excited to deliver really well produced recordings to highlight our new era and rebrand. We’ve been in the studio for a long time and our latest single “Now and Before” did really well, highlighted with a release party, private viewing, and free merch giveaway! We plan to have pop up events around these releases so keep an eye out for free tickets and merch giveaway!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
The Mouth-Breathers are more than just a band; we’re a musical journey rooted in raw energy, nostalgia, and unapologetic authenticity. Formed by siblings who shared a passion for music, we set out to carve our own path in the industry.
Our journey began in the garages and backyards of our hometown, where we honed our craft and developed our signature sound—a blend of indie rock, punk, and alternative influences that resonates with audiences craving something genuine and relatable.
What sets us apart is our commitment to staying true to ourselves and our roots. We don’t follow trends or conform to expectations; instead, we create music that speaks to the highs and lows of the human experience. Our lyrics are honest and introspective, with themes of love, loss, and the struggles of everyday life.
We produce more than just music; we offer an experience. Whether it’s through our electrifying live performances or our carefully crafted studio albums, we aim to evoke emotion and connect with our listeners on a deeper level.
One of the things we’re most proud of is our ability to connect with our fans. We’re not just performers; we’re storytellers, sharing our own experiences in a way that resonates with others. Our music has the power to uplift, inspire, and unite people from all walks of life, and that’s something truly special.
For potential business, listeners, followers, and fans, we want you to know that The Mouth-Breathers are more than just a band—we’re a community. Whether you’re going through a breakup, dealing with the pressures of modern life, or simply looking for a soundtrack to your day, we’re here for you. So come join us on this journey, and together, let’s make some noise.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Looking back, there are definitely some resources I wish I knew about earlier in our creative journey. One thing that stands out is the power of mentorship and networking within the industry. If we had connected with experienced professionals who could share their insights and experiences, it could have saved us a lot of trial and error.
Understanding the business side of the music industry sooner would have been a game-changer too. Learning about things like music licensing, copyright laws, and marketing strategies would have given us a stronger foundation to navigate the industry landscape.
Also, embracing digital tools and online platforms for promotion and distribution could have helped us reach a wider audience much sooner. It took us a while to fully embrace social media and streaming platforms, but once we did, it made a huge difference in connecting with fans and growing our presence.
Looking back, I realize that while our journey has been about learning and evolving, having access to these resources earlier would have been incredibly beneficial and could have helped us achieve our goals more efficiently.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
One aspect of the creative journey that might elude those not immersed in it is the concept of vulnerability and its intrinsic value. For us, vulnerability isn’t just a byproduct of our creative process; it’s the very heart of it. It’s the courage to bare your soul, to share your innermost thoughts and fears through your art. This process is not just about creating; it’s about connecting on the most human level possible.
Non-creatives might see the final product—a song, a painting, or a performance—and admire its beauty or critique its flaws without grasping the depth of personal exposure it represents. They may not see the countless hours of self-doubt, the internal battles fought over a single line of a song, or the emotional toll of revisiting past traumas to create something genuine and moving. It’s this emotional investment that can be so hard to understand from the outside looking in.
This vulnerability is also a source of strength and authenticity. It’s what allows artists to resonate with others, creating a shared experience out of personal stories and emotions. However, embracing this vulnerability means risking criticism and misunderstanding, not just of one’s work but of oneself. It’s a gamble that every creative takes: Will my expression of truth find a place in the hearts of others, or will it be dismissed, misunderstood, or ignored?
For anyone outside the creative sphere, understanding this could transform how they interact with art. It’s not just about liking or disliking a piece; it’s about appreciating the human experience behind it. Every creative work is a conversation, an invitation to see the world through someone else’s eyes, to feel what they felt, if only for a moment.
So, for those who might not understand the journey of a creative, we’d like to say: Look beyond the surface. Recognize the courage it takes to share one’s inner world. Engage with art as you would with a person, seeking to understand its essence rather than to judge its form. In doing so, you’ll not only deepen your appreciation of creativity but also enrich your own experience of the world.
