We were lucky to catch up with The Jacobs Team recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, The thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So, folks often look at a successful business and think it became a success overnight – but that often obscures all the nitty, gritty details of everything that went into the growth phase of your business. We’d love to hear about your scaling story and how you scaled up?
We have found that consistency and authenticity are the keys to growing a successful, long-term business. First, waking up every day and accomplishing something, anything that will bring you closer to your goal is all that you need to do! Nothing more. Too often we worry about the future, but all we have access to is the day in front of us. We can confidently rely on the compounding force that daily effort will bring. Small consistent progress will almost always yield the desired results over time. We shouldn’t put too much pressure on ourselves to achieve lofty long-term goals. Focusing on the current moment is all we can do! Second, authenticity is another important component for building a thriving sphere of influence (your cheerleaders that will be motivated to share your name with everyone.) When it is obvious that you care and prioritize your client’s concerns and needs, they will share your name for years to come. This leads to a warm, familiar group of clients that will be a delight to work with.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
Keeping in touch with our past clients is one of the most fun aspects of what we do. What could be more enjoyable than catching up with people that you loved working with on a regular basis? We enjoy celebrating closing anniversaries, birthdays, weddings, family additions, graduations, and more with our past clients. We do NOT ask anyone for loyalty. We simply do the best job we can for each and every client. And then we stay in touch in an authentic (not annoying) way. It all comes naturally and it is a pleasure. We do not advertise or market ourselves. There is a wonderful book called the “Go Giver” and it explains how to prioritize giving over getting. When you wake up each day and focus on providing value to your current clients, and giving love and support to your past clients, business will remain steady based on positive word of mouth.
Have you ever had to pivot?
It is worth discussing mindset. This is one of our favorite topics. When building a business, we obviously put a lot of pressure and stress on ourselves. We will grind every day and push through the early challenges, and ignore all else. This can take a toll on health, well-being, family life, joy, and more. Over the years, we have discovered the need for balance. Unfortunately, in our industry, there are so few examples of Realtors who have actually achieved “satisfaction.” This took years for us to analyze and refine for ourselves. But we are in a great place these days! We focus heavily on integrating our jobs with the rest of our lives. It is instructive to view your life like a pie. There are many slices representing so many things that are important to us. The funny part is, when you focus on balance, you actually begin to thrive in all areas. Your cups are filled in multiple areas and you can better perform for your clients when you have satisfaction. When things are out of balance, problems can arise. When we are constantly chasing goals, we might burn out and our clients can see that. We have learned to value all aspects of life and give them all the attention they deserve.
