We were lucky to catch up with The Gansett Set recently and have shared our conversation below.
The Gansett Set, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
Definitely we would say this project The Gansett Set, we pour so much heart and soul into it, that it just becomes and everyday thing, we go to sleep thinking about it and we wake up thinking about it. And we want to send a message with our music, not only to people in general but to people who feel just like us.
This album is a concept album about a main character who after 5 years of sobriety goes back into the life of excess and how he/she sees that everything might be a waste of time, how all these moments just fade into existence and we don’t cherise the true human moments.

The Gansett Set, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
We all met in New York a couple of years ago under a solo project that i had (Liam), and then we realized that we were writing songs together as a group so we decided to make a alternative rock band with some cinematic influence to it. We have been recording with a producer called Oscar Guinn who has been leading the way musically for us, and making our songs show their true potential.
The album we are releasing is a conceptual album, it tells a story, and it its joined by a lot of musical influences such as:
Arctic monkeys, David Bowie, Lou Reed, Radiohead, Astor Piazzolla among many others.
We are all big rock n roll fans a you can definitely hear that, but there is so much influences from others genre that the album will take you for a ride, it will make you see the movie we have created.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
It has to be simply the creation of music and see how each time we become better at our craft, we have listening to recordings from the beginning and compared to how we are now, we are amazed how we get better individually in our parts. Obviously people coming up to us and saying they like our stuff, and people singing our songs is very rewarding as well, but if we don’t feel it , it just feels like we would be lying to people.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Like i said before in this album there is a lot of influences, not only music wise but everything we consume. Eyes wide shut is one for example, the movie made us look in a direction which made sense while recording the album, and once we were locked with that a lot of others things followed, like the book GIA, about a young supermodel who died very young, the story of Marylin Monroe, and everything that had to do with Noir Detective literature.
Everything started to get in place and we created this dark, gloomy, excess environment. You can hear that in our sound and lyrics and we are proud of that.
