We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful The Dropletz. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with The Dropletz below.
The Dropletz, appreciate you joining us today. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard.
As a musician/band, it becomes essential to have a unique sound to create and grow your brand, yet it also has a risk of its own in coming up with a radically new sound. We usually observe that listeners always crave a bit of familiarity in the music while also searching for fresh music. So, It becomes necessary to maintain a perfect ratio of uniqueness and familiarity in our music.
It took us a lot of experimenting with new sounds and songwriting with every release to figure out what makes our music unique yet relatable. Our music is mainly a blend of Bollywood melodies and vocals with signature western music production elements from the genres of Future pop, Future bass and Hip/hop. This combination is what worked out great for us as we are keeping on growing our listeners with every release and are receiving a lot of love and streams consistently.
Growing up with Bollywood around us and discovering western pop and Hip hop during our teens had a big influence on us which inspired us to make the music we make today. We are immensely happy that we found our sound by combining cultures and we recently hit a million streams for our music. It makes us excited to keep on making music and grow along with our listeners.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
The Dropletz is made up of Arin Dez & Fleep. A music producer and a Singer/songwriter duo. We are actually from very different parts of India. Arin is from Assam and Fleep is from Hyderabad. Arin moved to Hyderabad in 2013 to pursue his degree in engineering. Fleep was pursuing a degree in Business in the same city. We both were working on our own music simultaneously. As the musician’s circle in cities is very tight & small, we usually know other musicians who are in the scene. We knew each other through socials and music before we met, but it was a mutual friend who introduced us to each other in 2017 and suggested we work together. It’s actually funny that during this meeting we found very little in common between us related to music. But what we found common between us was the way we work and approach things. At this point forming a duo wasn’t even on our mind, but we wanted to work together on a few collabs. We worked on a lot of music in 2018 from individual singles and collabs in our native languages and English to performing live shows. Our duo worked like a charm and we decided to make it official and form The Dropletz in 2019.
We kicked off The Dropletz with an eight-song album called “VIP – Very Important Playlist”. To give everyone an idea of our sound. The love we got surprised us. VIP also got played on major radio stations. This motivated us to make more music and since then we released ten more singles. Right now we are very grateful for the love we receive for our music and are currently working on a few singles and collaborations.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
We used to believe that the more time we put into making a certain track the better it is. But what we had come to realize is that speed is the key. When we tend to make a track quickly we are able to keep the raw essence in the track which actually inspired us to make that song. The other main advantage of this approach is that, if we make 6 tracks a year instead of 1 track, we get to learn six lessons instead of one in a year.
It was hard at first to not obsess over every single detail of the song and spend time perfecting it. But the subtle imperfections are what make the track alive.

Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
So far we have seen very few experiments with music in the NFT marketplace. We think that it has a huge potential in simplifying the copyright and monetizing issues. We are looking forward for this industry to boom in music space.
